The Y attacks are presses not Hold as you will do the pump kick holding. So anywhere in the video where you see hold Y it's a press outside the actual pump kick maneuver.
Usually in other games unarmed is very barebones with like 3 moves and very low dmg, but in this game unarmed is fully fleshed out with just as many moves as the other weapons and also with the right builds unarmed is just as OP as other weapons.
Pretty cool that unarmed takes the combines attack of your gloves and boots for it, so you will always have stat sticks for your unarmed dmg.
In fact, I find unarmed the most fun style in the Game so far.
Vault has a hidden mechanic - double tap the jump with light attack as you do it, you will not vault over the mob, but will jump off his shoulders, smashing him to the ground. Also while you sprint, press bow aim button + unarmed attack button to do somersault.
I love unarmed combat. If it is an option in any game im rocking it first play through. I was so hype when k saw this. And I think the unarmed combat is better than the Batman Series combat. CD unarmed feels so fluid.
Witt Hadyoken (R1+Triangle, Hold R1), if you use the R2+Triangle with the Fire Imbue, and after enemy is thrown further away, you can then press L3 to grab with Winch and if you time R1 then you can teleport to that enemy and the finish them off with another finisher.
Here's a quick primer on using melee as your primary combat method. 1. You need the Gloves of the God of Battle. 2. Equip the Showstopper artifact (more AoE around you) or the one given in Chapter 9 (more AoE in front of you), whichever you prefer. 3. Learn to do an infinite combo: hold R1 until the hero yells "Kiya," then Y, another "Kiya," then R2. One or two hits should do the trick, R1 again until "Kiya," and then Y, "Kiya," and R2 again......... That's it, you're a crowd- and boss-destroying machine. Thanks to the artifact, you will provide AoE damage and control for each "cue", which will allow you to not get bogged down in a crowd of enemies, and the gloves will give additional damage from lightning. I also advise leaving the artifact on the Combo counter (comes with the gloves) either on the boots or in the gloves themselves, depending on which artifacts you put, since the combo gives as much percentage of damage as indicated on the counter. With a combo of 10, you will get 10%, etc. And a micro moment: if you spam x during r1 + x, you will not jump over the enemy, but will fly up from him and then you can thoroughly hit the ground with either your foot or belly.
Excellent breakdown, I only just found out like 60 hours in that there are combos to the grappling. The game keeps delivering combat that far exceeded my expectations.
