Do you have any other talk show segments I should take a look at?

Conan definitely alluded to that interview on Hot Ones. He had talked about that the worst thing a guest could do is admit that the interview isn’t going well.

That first clip with Jennifer Garner is such gold - the fact that someone backstage brought out a dictionary and he was so smooth with his comeback shows just how loyal his staff was.

An excellent example of Heroin vs Cocaine

What about that time he told Bart Simpson that he shouldn't dance on his show?

8:20 This is the vibe of someone trying to integrate into the friend group with roast bants without first understanding that you need to be an established part of the friend group before you do that.

Conan is such a great host it take a lot to be called the worst interview for a Conan interview

"I wanna talk about Harvey Keitel."
"Go ahead."

Abel Ferrara looks like if Richard Lewis was a Crank Yankers puppet.

The older, more seasoned Conan would be able to save these interviews by calling out how bad they were and still make it funny.

I have zero interest in late night television, unless Captain Midnight is talking about it.

In 9:13 she mentions "I'm not funny huh?" It reminds me when Conan, while on Hot Ones, he says a rookie move is to say "this is not going well is it?" Seems a reference to this moment.

Can't believe you didn't mention Tracy Jordan trying to stab him smh

Honestly feel sorry for Kari. That’s what happens when someone is insanely nervous and just wants to do well as a guest.

I worked with Abel Ferrara for a few years during the early '00s and he was like that 24/7. He would show up morning at the office with a 40 Oz Budweiser and the phone number for him was, no joke, to leave messages at the liquor store. During the period of around 3 years I dealt with him because he was friends with my boss ( i.e. would show up to ask him for money) I never saw him sober or having a lucid conversation.  I couldn't even imagine how he managed to direct films and somehow, surreally, with major stars. A friend of mine who interviewed him went to his place where he had all these phones written on the wall: Robert Deniro, Harvey Keitel, Willen Dafoe, every possible famous actor of the period and Abel said "I keep the numbers on the wall because it is the only thing I won't lose."
Then we would organize these panels for NYU  film students and Abel would show up typically mumbling some half coherent stuff while holding his 40oz Budweiser and the students loved and really bought into it as an alternative author persona for them to aspire to be instead of that's who he was. Some crazy drunk guy that happened to do films who knows how.
Everything about him was baffling.
He would get interviews for our magazine without commas or periods transcribed into a piece of paper and I had to tell my boss we needed to copy edit because it was unreadable.
Abel confused about what it meant would call me middle of night from Cannes screaming at me it was censorship and I had to scream back for him to shut up.
I was just happy when I left the job to never deal with him again.
This is not "he was on drugs during the interview". Yes he was. But I never saw him sober or presentable either.
This is the Abel you'd get under any situation at least during that period of time.
I hadn't seen him in 20 years so maybe he's less insane now but I doubt.

I guess it sounds funny and interesting to hear the story from distance but working and living with the situation was a plain nightmare.

The first one was funny to me in a farcical sort of way but the second one makes my skin crawl in a way that I struggle to continue watching.

I could be wrong, but I vaguely remember Conan mentioning the Kari interview on his podcast, and he took the blame for it going so poorly. That it was very early in his career and he just did not help her out enough and if it happened later in his career it would have gone a lot better. That's likely why he puts Abel Ferrera as his worst guest ever.

This was painful to watch. Please do more!!

You could tell Conan was pissed immediately when Kari came on and insulted Steven Wright, Conan loves Steven Wright.

“She’s biting. Ow. I kinda like that.” Conan was so real for that
