The results from the Canon 6D speak for themselves, and I honestly think it is one of the most cost-effective entry-level DSLRs for astrophotography in 2025.
It can be overwhelming when trying to figure out how to start astrophotography, and choosing your equipment is a huge part of the process. I hope that if you haven't yet purchased a DSLR for astrophotography, this gives you an idea of what to look out for. Even if you already have your gear sorted, this is a bargain to add to your bag! Thank you so much to everyone who sent me their photos to use from this beauty. Get under those skies, pals!

As much as I like to get into a bit of Canon v Nikon banter with my mates, I honestly don't think you can get a bad camera these days. I'm actually amazed at what my mobile phone can do astro-wise.
I've done all my stuff on a crop sensor, but I've finally got full frame, so I'm keen to try that out properly.
Being a Nikon shooter I've always wanted a D810a. Made for astro from the factory, but I swear they're more expensive now second hand than they were new.
I bought mine the year it came out as a pro photographer just leaving school. I've captured circa 250,000 photos on mine being an events and music photographer and even shot a halloween themed wedding in a cave with one! Mine has an insane amount of stuck, hot and cold pixels now - like I'd say a good 1/10th of all the pixels are bad and the shutter dial is missing. It still works though and it owes me nothing. Up until recently it shot all my Timelapses too, but now the intervalometer / remote port is broken 🥲
FWIW, my image of the flying bat and IC1396 (which was a two panel mosaic if I remember correctly) shows you don't need to necessarily modify your camera to capture Ha detail, it takes a tonne of data and patience haha
I’m definitely going to use the information
I’m getting a fully goto 10 inch dobsonian soon and I’ve been looking for something I can use for amateur Astro photography with it.
😂
Good to see a new video Helena. Even if I do have to learn a new language.
