I liked the Tony B character. He was one of the few people who would/could stand up to Anthony without him feeling threatened or getting pissed. It took a special kind of person to do that
When Tony B looks up after Tony S said someone got a look at the guy. That's the reaction of someone who did it. Split second panic and then cool as a breeze. Steve Buscemi nailed it.
Tony Blundetto goes behind his cousin back and kills a major player in a New York family and Tony rewards him with more money, better position etc. "If it was anyone else"
James Gandolfini mastered the “Don’t give me that fuckin look” exchange. He was so good at knocking his “Guys” down a notch when one of them gave him a look as if to say “Hey I’m a dangerous gangster too don’t talk to me that way”.
Buscemi is one of the finest actors to ever come down the pike. He's so good they do a full face shot of him listening to Soprano and he doesn't need any dialoge. Just his expression grabs you and takes you down the well.
A prime example of Tony's bad leadership. His cousin puts their whole family in jeopardy, and Tony rewards him because he feels guilty about something that happened 20 years ago.
You could tell how dark and dreary the series got in the end with a depressed scenery and grayness in the sky. In the beginning it was colorful and filled with life but in the end it was like the color and the life was sucked right out of the atmosphere slowly through out the whole 6 and a half seasons. Not many people were left standing in the end except maybe Paulie, Patsy and Benny.
It is rare you see an actor of Steve Buscemi’s talent give 110% in anything he does. It is not just what steve says, but his reactions that makes this a great scene
“Huh — Long John Silver, maybe?” This is a GM seeing a talented player and locking him down quick with a nice contract. I love these two actors chewing scenery. Their interactions together are fantastic. “You’re crowding me.” Plus: “Weh Cah-well, Weh Cah-well… West. Cald-well.”
