For the first time, Courtney is sharing her full story with Alpha-Gal Syndrome.

Courtney had many unexplained medical issues and we could not figure out what was causing them. We eventually discovered that Courtney has Alpha-Gal Syndrome after a life threatening medical emergency landed her in the ED. Alph Gal Syndrome is a tick-borne allergy to the alpha-gal molecule found in mammalian meat and products.

In this video, Courtney explains what Alpha-Gal has been like for her, the symptoms and reactions she has experienced, and how we finally connected the dots and figured out what was going on. This hopefully answers all the questions we've been getting about Alpha Gal over the last year since her diagnosis in August of 2025.

But this is only the beginning.

We are starting a new journey to see if Courtney can actually get better from Alpha-Gal. We have found a naturopathic doctor (ND) who specializes in a treatment approach involving “mapping,” and we are going to document the process from beginning to end.

We don’t know yet if this treatment will work.

That’s what makes this journey so important to us.

We’re going to share the progress, setbacks, testing, appointments, and everything we learn along the way so that we can look back and see what actually happened — and hopefully help other people dealing with Alpha-Gal understand their options and feel a little less alone.

This is Episode 1 of Courtney’s Alpha-Gal journey.

If you’ve been diagnosed with Alpha-Gal, suspect you may have it, or know someone who is dealing with it, follow along with us. We’re going to be completely honest about our experience, whether the treatment works or not.

DISCLAIMER: This series documents Courtney’s personal experience and is not intended to diagnose, treat, or cure Alpha-Gal Syndrome or replace medical advice from a qualified healthcare professional.

THANK YOU to everyone that has supported us through this year long journey. We truly appreciate all of the love and support from friends and family! Happy Homesteading!
