If you have seborrheic dermatitis do wash your hair every day.

Last summer I decided to only wash my hair every 3 days because it is oily naturally and a hairstylist recommended it... I started losing much more hair during showers and even just during the day when that had never happened before. It even got to the point where my skin behind the ears, that was covered by the oily hair started going red and scaling.

I went to the dermatologist and she asked how often I washed my hair, I told her I was doing the recommendation of the hair stylist and she said "ok, that's the problem. For you that isn't good. You need to wash it every day.". Doing that and keeping my seborrheic dermatitis under control with ketoconazole shampoo alternated with selenium sulfide shampoo to prevent and treat when it gets out of control, plus an extra-gentle dermo-protective shampoo for everyday use made things go back to normal in months. Hair fall went back to normal and seborrheic dermatitis too. Another thing that I find really helps but I'm lazy with it nowadays is massaging your scalp with a scalp scrubber for 20-40 minutes every day. Also using the scrubber to massage the scalp with the ketoconazole shampoo for 10-15 minutes then rinsing it as normal once in a while.

What I've been doing for my 3A hair is to wash only once a week and put conditioner at the beginning of the shower. I usually shower about 20 mins, so at the beginning I lather it in to the scalp and slick it back. At the end, I rinse most of it out to get all the sweat and dirt out. I usually let it air dry but if it's late at night I'll take a towel and press it really hard against my scalp and never ever ruffle my hair. I also grab my hair with a towel like a sponge and dry it that way at night as well. I leave Pantene Curl Perfection conditioner in my hair actively and it has done wonders.
