"The Road to Perdition" Mike Sullivan (Tom Hanks) is an enforcer for powerful Depression-era Midwestern mobster John Rooney (Paul Newman). Rooney's son, Connor (Daniel Craig), is jealous of the close bond they share, and when Mike's eldest son, Michael (Tyler Hoechlin), witnesses a hit, Connor uses the incident as an excuse to murder Sullivan's wife (Jennifer Jason Leigh) and youngest son. Forced to flee, Sullivan and Michael set out on a journey of revenge and self-discovery.

"I'm glad it's You"......That whole scene gives me goose bumps. RIP Paul Newman.

Both of my son's gave my wife and me nothing but trouble. They both ended up going in the military, ones in the Army, the other is a Marine, ironically there both MP's. The change is still unbelievable. Our oldest has been a Soldier for 13 years, the youngest has been a Marine 10. We couldn't be prouder. Thank You.

Road to perdition is such an underappreciated movie. Tom Hanks is really great in it, and the movie is really quite emotional.

One thing I have to admire about former mob and criminals are the ones who specifically made sure their kids never became like them or took up the mantle like they did.

It's one thing to make the choices for your own life and live by whatever factors played a part in shaping those choices

It's another to rope your kids into it and get then involved in something that can alter their lives or threaten their souls...

And i find that element of the film to be interesting

Whereas Connor was raised to be a gangster it's clear that he lost his soul because of it

Whereas Mike Sullivan sacrifices everything, literally everything to ensure his son won't lose his soul and will have a chance to be something more

When Michael tells him he couldn't pull the trigger, it gives Mike his dying wish cause he was afraid his son might grow to be a man of violence like him, but now he knows he won't and he can pass in peace.

Tom hanks not getting an Oscar nomination for this was such an insult.

At the end of the movie, he goes back and lives with the elderly couple. Tom Hanks asked them why they didn't have children and the woman told him, "We met too late in life." I think they were the best choice the boy could have made for people to take care of him. They can teach him traditional values, the importance of hard work, and they will love him as their own.

"There are only murderers in this room Michael"

BEST line of the movie for sure.

This movie and “Layer Cake” is actually what put Daniel Craig on the map to play the next James Bond in the early 2000’s

Road to Perdition is one of my favourite movies of all time. It's mostly the music and cinematography for me. Much underrated.

One of the things I love about this movie is that it's about fathers protecting and trying to teach their sons. Tom Hanks' and Paul Newman's characters, both, trying to do right by their sons, yet their own father and son relationship was brought into conflict.

I saw that movie in the movie theater. It moved me so much. Sullivan wanted his son to go to heaven and not take on the road to perdition.

As an Irishman myself, I can attest this explanation of an Irish funeral is correct. It is more a celebration of the persons life rather than a terribly sad event. Usually people are drinking throughout the funeral at the local bar.

We've a joke here in Ireland. Whats the difference between an Irish wedding and an Irish funeral, one less person😂

I know it’s been 3 years since this video was uploaded, but Road to Perdition is one of the most underrated films ever created. It is truly one of the most emotional and most heartbreaking films ever made. The fact this film is not in the top 100, 500 or whatever best films ever made is an absolute travesty. This film was cinematic perfection.

Tom Hanks may have 2 Oscars from Forrest Gump and Philadelphia, but he kicked butt with Road to Perdition. I have this movie...

I'm irish Catholic, when my great uncle died not only did we place him on the pool table for the wake, his will said no one was getting anything till the bar tab was paid.

When Paul Newman says I’m glad it’s you he looked at Sullivan as the son he never had epic scene!!!
