Denis Villeneuve‘s filmography is all bangers, you should watch them all eventually

I was sad to see this one was the higher tier earlier, and im glad you made a YouTube edit because this is my favorite movie of the last 10ish years

31:41 Colonel is spelled that way because it is a French word derived from a Itallian root, later adopted by British.

The philosophical aspects of this movie had my brain in a blender. What fascinated me most was that Louise didn't just know about the disease. She knew her daughter's entire life before she was even conceived, so from her perspective, choosing not to have her because of the disease would feel the same as if she did have her. Hannah's memory would still be there. So it isn't really a question of, "Would you have a child if you knew they were going to die young of a disease?" as much as it is asking a parent who had a child die young of a disease if they would like to go back and unmake all the life their child had in their lived experience.

I’m currently on a very long drive to move so I hope you all enjoy today’s video!

Oh, this is fantastic film! I remember seeing this and then watching all of Denis Villeneuve’s work. He is a master of his craft.

The answer was given in the beginning of the movie, "Language is the first weapon drawn in war"

SO glad you did this movie! It’s one of my absolute favorites!

This movie is based on a short story by Ted Chiang. Based on the books behind you and your reference to Project Hail Mary, I'd recommend you check his books out.

Great movie choice! I love Denis as a director, he really knows how to put heavy weighted emotions into this film. Such an incredible score

"You're going to be stopped" behave right now😂

Peak content has arrived to save my friday

An incredible film… One of my all-time favorites. The title “ARRIVAL” not only means about the aliens… but also Hannah’s arrival, as well. She’s a key to all of this to bring Louise around. The aliens sacrificed and Hannah, Louise, and Ian did as well to save everyone. But, because she is no longer bound by time, she can always have Hannah with her in some way.  It’s a remarkable film, direction, and performance from the actors.

Some other great films that I’d put up there with this one: PLEASANTVILLE,  STRANGER THAN FICTION, GRAVITY, CHILDREN OF MEN… The first two seem a little more light-hearted, but quickly gain some emotional footing. The last two are dramatic beyond most films… but all of these films will stay with you once you see them.

Wonderful stuff, Gina! Love the commentary and thoughts… Subscribed!!

This is truly one of the most beautiful films ever made. So poignant, nuanced and grand in both the technical and emotional aspects

Such a great movie. On a ton of levels. Glad you checked it out.

Also, I can't believe they put Rocky in the Hail Mary movie trailer since day one! I realize it happens early in the book, but there's no indication it's coming as you're reading. Anyway, I'll definitely be going to see that. Gosling will surely do a great job. Hope they do it justice.

This was one of the most beautiful movies

You mentioned ROCKY from PHM. Can't wait to watch it and rewatch 😊.
Coming this year, yay!

YO. I'M SO EXCITED. I fucking LOVE this movie and am over the moon that you're doing this one

It's one of my favorites movies! thank you for sharing it on youtube too! <3

I would have enjoyed a longer edit but glad you posted this ✨
