Welcome to I’ll Knit (& Spin!) If I want To! I asked y’all to send in some of your questions (from everything from fiber arts, to designing and on!) so I could put together a little video for y’all every Friday doing my best to answer your questions!

1. Hi Andrea, First of all, I wanted to thank you so much. I look forward to this podcast every week, and I’ve learned so much from it. Also, thank you For designing such fun patterns. I’ve been Knitting along with you for Over a decade! Your patterns and your whimsical Approach to Knitting have brought me so much joy! I am currently approaching the hemline of my Antipodes. When I tried it on, I realized that my Front hem Is going to be a good inch or two higher than my back hem. I am a D cup, and was thinking of adding short rows to lengthen the front just slightly before I start the ribbing. It doesn’t seem like there’s a better place to do it on the front of the garment anywhere else. And honestly, I didn’t think of it until now! LOL I think if I knit another one, I might just add an extra main color row in between each pattern repeat on the front. I doubt that would be very noticeable at all. But since I don’t want to redo the whole sweater, do you have any advice on placing some short rows on the front of the sweater right above the hem? Or would that look really strange? Thanks so much!
2. Hi Andrea! This is the first year I’m attending Rhinebeck that I haven’t knit your pattern designed for the Rhinebeck knit along! Instead, I chose to knit your flock pullover pattern and I’ve loved working on it and can’t wait to wear it to Rhinebeck! My question is: can I still say hello and grab a pic with you on the hill next week? (After the group picture for the knitalong of course!). This is my fifth year attending Rhinebeck and saying hello to you is always a highlight.
3. First thank you so much for your weekly podcasts! I always look forward to them. I started watching them 3 years ago when I started knitting and have learned so much. My question is spinning related (which you got me into 😊). I’ve watched Craftsy tutorials and such like those, so I understand the concept of under plied and over plied and what it looks like when you pull some of the plied yarn back out and see how it twist back on itself or not. So my question…by the plied standards above, my plied yarn is balanced, yet the plies seem loosely twisted around each other. Not unusable, but they don’t look tight and scrunched up against each other like Spincycle, for example. What am I doing differently? I hope that makes sense. I appreciate your consideration of my question! 🫶🏻
4. Hi Andrea! I have an annual tradition of buying a SQ at Rhinebeck and then debuting the resulting sweater a few weeks later on Thanksgiving. This year, I have my eye on the Tessellated Pullover — this would be a quick turnaround, I know, but I think I can do it! My one concern is the warmth of this sweater. I find myself reaching most for sweaters that are cozy enough but don't make me sweat. The sweaters I've knit myself with a strand of mohair end up being too much for me except on the absolute coldest winter days. Between the 3 yarns and the fuzz of Oh Dang, I'm wondering if the Tessellated as written would be too hot for me to enjoy wearing. Can you recommend yarn subs for the MC and Oh Dang that might make this a more wearable pullover for me? Or is this pattern maybe just not a fit for me?
5. Hi Andrea! Im a spinner but have always spun on traditional treadle wheels. I’ve finally saved up to buy my first e-wheel, and I’m torn between the Hansen and a Daedalus. Since you have both, could you talk about the strengths and challenges of each and maybe recommend one? I probably won’t be traveling with it. Thank you so much for being a weekly dose of sunshine!
