I hate everyone complaining about Victoria's look. Many of you don't look better than her. She is a wonderful person who made Great Britain we know today. For me she was a beautiful person who loved her husband and her people deeply.
I´ve always been fascinated by queen Victoria so this upload is greatly appreciated. On the plus side there are pictures I´ve never seen of prince Albert, the very first photos taken of him. The portrayal of him in the current tv series is very close to how he actually looked. Another picture I haven´t seen before is the one of Victoria wearing a crown in a picture for the first time and not that silly napkin type headdress. Wish I could find it and download it to my collection. I actually thought that the wedding pictures was from the period they got married. Couldn´t understand how Albert would be half bald at the time so now I know it is because it a recreation of the original wedding. There are many speculations as to why the queen was so fond of John Brown. I´ve read somewhere that it was due mainly to the fact that he clairvoyant and maintained contact with Albert after his death. Those critizicing the current tv series for having Jenny Coleman cast as the queen saying she looks nothing like her, have only to cast their eyes on a favourite painted portrait of her to prince Albert, by Franz Xaver Winterhalter from 1843 when she was 24. She is stunningly beautiful and Jenny comes quite close in resembling her. Other paintings of Victoria done in the early 1840s by Sir Edwin Landseer show a striking likeness to actress Coleman. When speaking of early photographs of the queen, I wonder why the one by B.E Duppa taken in 1854 isn´t included in this presentation. It shows a still youthful looking queen in profile, sitting in a chair holding a portrait of Albert. Here she is presented slim looking and light years from the fat image that came later, after Albert´s untimely death. I guess she stuffed herself with food to compensate for the loss of her beloved. On the negative side is the annoying music which is totally out of place with the period in question. Nonetheless, thanks for the upload.
