Youngjun's Performance

Youngjun (male, 8 years old) enjoys performing, showing off his dancing and singing to his family as his audience.

His favorite song is "Firefly." However, his family is not entirely happy watching him sing.

This is because Youngjun has a cerebrovascular disease called Moyamoya.

Moyamoya disease is said to affect one in a thousand people.

It is a rare disease named "Moyamoya" in Japanese because the large blood vessels in the brain become blocked, causing small, weak microvessels to proliferate, resembling rising smoke.

If left untreated, the disease can lead to cerebral hemorrhage or cerebral infarction, potentially resulting in paralysis or brain damage.

Mom's Stage

Mom's last stage performance was last summer.

Unlike Youngjun's modest performances with his family as the audience, Mom used to take the stage in front of large crowds as part of a choir.

Just before the performance began, she complained of a headache and lost consciousness. Moyamoya disease had already taken root not only in Young-jun but also in his mother's mind.

After collapsing, his mother spent about half a year in the hospital and returned home after undergoing several surgeries.

Young-jun's illness arrived a year after his mother collapsed.

Hearing that there was a possibility it was hereditary, his mother felt guilty every time she looked at her son's face.

The Day of Admission

Young-jun was scheduled to be admitted to the hospital the day before his surgery.

However, his father would not allow his mother to go to the hospital.

He was worried that seeing Young-jun in pain might cause him to collapse again.

But his mother could not simply sit at home.

Having experienced firsthand how difficult surgery is, she was troubled by the fact that she could not be by her young son's side before his operation.

While his mother was agonizing, the time for Young-jun's surgery approached.
