※ This video is an excerpt from *Korean Journey - While You’re Still Young Part 3: That Woman’s Second House*, which aired on December 15, 2021.
Jiyoon says she formed a connection with a traditional Korean house in Miryang, Gyeongsangnam-do, after falling in love at first sight with it—a place completely cut off from communication and lacking even internet access.
She has been captivated by the tranquility and seclusion the house offers, but the reality is nothing but a rural life filled with labor.
We take a look at the extraordinary daily life of a woman for whom 24 hours a day is simply not enough.
From the scent of the earth to the fragrance of fruit trees filling the yard, the changing seasons visible over the wall, and even the rafters visible when lying down on the ceiling—this house was full of charms that made her want to lie down even in broad daylight.
Thus, this place is named Mubongdang. Just as the saying goes that a garment is built with such care that the seams disappear, Jiyoon is tending to this house with great care, personally making mini Hanbok and leather crafts.
Today is the day we welcome special guests here.
We plan to soothe our palates with sun-dried, chewy beef jerky and glutinous rice chips, and properly loosen up our hands with the traditional lottery game we used to play quite a bit in our younger days.
Jiyoon says she is happy living a self-sufficient life, building her own time in a space she created with her own hands.
She is fully savoring this day here, a day that would not have existed if she hadn't mustered the courage or come here now.
