Just a brief mention of the very favourable wind blowing towards the England half followed by a continuous praise of O'Brien's marvellous kicking. Yes she did very well in good take of the ball then excellent making space for the kick but the wind was a fantastic help. Ireland did put up a ferocious defense of their lead for most of the first half with Roses struggling to make headway. The second half saw the wind in England's favour and the score-line steadily climbing to just shy of 50. Ireland women much improved, defense solid, need to work more on finishing. Well done Roses.
5 - 21… despite the relentless cheating and unprofessionalism of the irish women rugby team. English ladies refuse to be disrespected.. FairPlay, honesty and decency will always ensure our English Ladies beat the irish
26:29 That was a terrible decision by the ref. Jess clearly didn't have the ball in her hands and there was an Ireland player laying entirely across her preventing her from doing anything with the ball. Should have been an England penalty for not rolling away.
So its a great kick every time Ireland kicks in the first half is it. Funny how no mentions the strong wind at Ireland's back assisting with the distance. Also why are referee's allowing player to go off their feet at every ruck or driving over then placing their hands on the ground. Its a penalty for each offence.
I watched this game live & was disappointed by the "gossipery" commentary. Apparently, according to Sara Orchard the BBC commentator?? this game of Women's 6 Nations had women players.
When I played winger and fullback the only time I fumbled a catch was when the weather or pitch were so bad that the ball was slimy. Shouldn't ever fumble a dry ball. And OMG - although I think Meg Jones is great - she's such a ball hog. At least 2 occasions when players outside her were clear and she chose to try a dummy into 2 or 3 opponents - that's never going to work. At least one is not going to be fooled. Quite a lot of simple failures of standard skill: bad passes, knock ons, tackle offences. Good job we tidied them up by the time the World Cup final came around!
No kudos to ireland, just shame and dishonour to all the irish players. Non stop unprofessional behaviour, cheating, dirty playing, the irish players knowing that they can never compete with the quality of the English players, so just focused on cheating and playing dirty. The bbc match commentators biased, unprofessional commentary, yet another revelation as to just how low the bbc has sunk as a media organisation. … We need to restore acts of treachery and traitors behaviour to the statute books.😊
An interesting match and kudos to Ireland for their first half efforts. The commentary is a bit bizarre at times, with the level of excitement in the commentary box not really always matching the action on the field. I wish KDM would take over as principal commentator. She's much better than SO, constantly lauding Wafer, for example - a good, promising player, but not a Matthews or a Feaunati, quite yet - and it does get a little wearing. Also, hypercritical of England mistakes. No team is perfect every minute of every match. Not meant to be any kind of criticism of the Ireland players, by the way. They played with heart and are improving, which is fantastic for the sport.
Of course the try by England at the start of the second half gets denied. It wouldn’t be fair to allow a try, fairly scored against ireland to stand… We refuse to use all the proper video checks of this try being fairly scored, just in case it upsets Irish people.
Harrison fumbles again and she gets praise for goal kicking which are all in front of the posts which anyone could do - she simply is not as good as Aitcheson. England show their fitness late on in the game. Sarah Bern must be in any world 15 - she is amazing. The Irish number 10 can certainly kick the ball a long way but not much else - can't see why everyone is raving about her.
