This video is very helpful for those of us who are heading to Lisbon but not sure if the metro or the taxi is better. You made it easy to follow along.
I live in Lisbon. Airport taxis often try to scam people, even locals like me. Uber is cheap and fast - 15 to 20 minutes to downtown Lisbon. The Navegante card can be topped up later at any Metro station if you don’t want to commit to stored value right away.
Very helpful. I'll be going to Lisbon soon and I love it when I can take the subway from the airport to city center. I'll also be transferring to the green line. Thank you.
A Metro is the sign of a civilized people. lol While I tend to buy nothing at airports other than a drink, food, and maybe something to read; I do love to explore and see what kind of stores they have and what they sell. Thanks again Dan.
Do note that the Intendente and Martim Monez districts are notorious for drugs and crimes, as they’re historically known for prostitution etc. They are not safe for tourists to visit in darkness. If your heading to the Alfama district from the airport, stay on the redline to the end of the line Sao Sebastiao and take the blue line to Terreiro do Paço, and then it’s only a 5-10 minute walk to the Sé/Alfama. The metro platform signs have a black digital clock on them showing the destination and time to the next train arriving at the platform, and it counts down in 0:30 increments ie: 2:30>2:00>1:30>1:00
Very concise and precise—exactly what I needed! Subscribed in a heartbeat. I have an upcoming solo trip on December 1, and I’ve been trying to navigate all the little travel shenanigans—eSIMs, hostels, trains, places to see, and even a side trip to Porto. Your video is an absolute lifesaver! It will definitely make an appearance in my travel vignette. Thank you!
Good video showing everyhing you need to know! The other option is a physical and personal plastic card which may be more durable if your coming back to Lisbon now and then. It requires an online application form on carris, your submit a photo and pay, the card will be mailed to you. The physical card, I believe, will be chargable through the NFC functions on the phone. It may cost 30 euros for it all, but maybe it's worth it in order to save time and just head directly to the metro after arrival.
It was quite easy for me when I was in Lisbon last year to get to my airbnb from the airport. I took the subway once and an uber once too. The metro is easy, clean and cheap. Good video!
Greetings from Canada 🇨🇦 Thank you for posting this video. We will be travelling exactly like this in a few weeks. We always prefer public transit from the airports for the experience and cost factor. Seeing your route was helpful. Question… can we not just tap on and off with our Wise credit/debit card? Saw on the gate it showed Visa etc. By just tapping we skip the step of purchasing the separate transit card. Thanks!
Thank you, that was just what I needed for my upcoming trip. I could even find the stop I need to get off closest to my hotel on your map. Very well explained and its really a good price. Thank you!!!! 😊
