ALSO BIG thank you to all of you amazing folks that have already pre ordered my first book! 🙏❤ https://www.rockykanaka.com/book

Rocky, I believe more people would adopt older dogs, especially seniors, BUT it's the vet bills that scares human seniors away cause most of us are on limited budget. If there was a place we could get discounted vet care or a sliding scale for our dogs,  I truly believe more senior dogs would be adopted.  Thanks for what you do.

That poor baby was abused. To trembling when her name was said and the fearful look on her face. It seems like her name was said primarily when bad things were happening to her. Now she associates the name with it. I think faith is beautiful and it absolutely suits her.

I adapted a a pitiful dog out of a kill shelter in Texas. They found her on the street and didn’t know how long she had been a stray. They thought she was about seven years old. She was covered in ticks, skinny and miserable. She was slated to be put down that day. After a few months of making her comfortable, I took her to be groomed. She came strutting out as the most amazing purebred schnauzer, and I had her for 10 years. She passed from natural causes after a very loving life.

I had a grooming shop for 32 years and I adopted many seniors whose owners passed and no one in the family would take them. After grooming them for years I just couldn't let them go to a shelter and be stressed out before they are put down. Thankfully my husband of 47 years  was a kind hearted man who put up with my bringing home unwanted dogs.

Dear Rocky, I participated in a driving scavenger hunt this past Saturday. One of the clues led me to a large dog rescue. 1 point for finding it. 2 points for taking a photo with a dog and 3 pts for making a donation. I stayed there for an hour and told them about you and asked if I could volunteer and sit with the dogs or walk them. Thanks to you, I told them I knew I had to learn from them first, and it could take time but I reallywanted too. I filled out the volunteer forms and I'M  NOW A VOLUNTEER! Tracy will be sitting with dogs. I'm so happy. Thank you Rocky. I would have never known how important this work is and that I can do it. I was so excited, I wanted to call you and tell you. But, I don't really know you personally or have your number. So, this is all I can do.

My boyfriend and I adopt local senior shelter dogs. The first died of cancer but was spoiled rotten, even being pulled in her wagon on “walks” when she wasn’t able to walk anymore. The second was blind. That was an adventure! Now we have an 11 yr old bulldog with severe food allergies. Spoil them and help them to live their best life for as long as they have on earth.

As you’re talking Rocky, I’m sobbing. I adopted an older adult dog and only had him for 2.5 years and he turned out to be the soul dog of my life. He passed three weeks ago from a brain tumor and I’m devastated and struggling…but…it’s to say that your soul dog just may be a senior. Right now I’m still in the grief..I’m changed forever in just that short amount of time. I’m so grateful for the support of this community for all of these beautiful souls.

I've never seen a dog tremble to it's name, that's so sad. For a dog to be that scared of her name, she must have been abused. :(

Whether, you lose your dog after one year or after 10 years, your heart is going to be broken.

She was definitely abused. The signs and red flags were there when Alexis said about Faith having a cauliflower ear (usually happens through being hit/beaten) and the fact her skin and teeth are in such bad shape.  But the final bit was when @Rocky said her original name, the fear was REAL.  Poor baby, she's a sweetheart. ❤

Her reaction to her name was shocking and heartbreaking. Faith is a beauty and what a sweet disposition ❤.  I’m looking forward to seeing her adoption! That tail wag was adorable ❤❤❤

When I was little, around 10 years old, my aunt adopted a slightly older dog. Her name was Ronja. She was so thin, scared, and unhappy. Ronja and I became best friends, and in the end, my aunt and I shared her. Ronja saved me just as much as we saved her from neglect.
I was being badly bullied by many of my classmates. Somehow, it was as if Ronja knew. One day, she left home and waited for me outside my school — it wasn’t far from our house. From that day on, I could walk home safely. I miss that dog so incredibly much. She went from lying in a corner on the floor to sleeping on the couch, in the bed — preferably on her back with a blanket and a pillow.
If you stopped petting her, she’d bark and show her teeth — in a cute and gentle way that clearly meant: keep petting me.

Love how you can turn these poor doggos lives around to something positive, great work mate ❤‍🔥❤‍🔥❤‍🔥

One's heart is ripped apart when you lose them, but probably nothing like how their heart is being ripped apart without someone to be their person.

My favorite quote on losing a pet is from Dr.Seuss - "Don't cry that its over,  smile that it happened". The best years of my life were the ones with my dogs.  I miss them everyday, thankfully I got to spend many happy years with them and that makes me smile.

Hey Kanaka Family, We have a quiet, gentle, adopted Husky about the same age and we have a great vet. We try to adopt older dogs to give them some good years since we can afford the needed vet care. We hired a driving company to bring our Husky, Styx, to us in Albuquerque (out from a shelter near Houston.) Styx lost her sister (a 13-year-old Plott Hound that we had for 4 years) last summer and would love another sister. Keep me posted if it might be an option to adopt the lovely Faith from here ❤

Loving an old dog is proof that life isn't fair.

Thank you Kelly for supporting and helping Rocky with this calling. He is amazing and your love for Him is awesome.God bless you both.

Faith is so sweet.and she deserves a good, loving home. The best moment was when she wagged her tail- that was so heartwarming.
