Perfectly timed recording corruption. "You haven't really missed much" followed by the footage being lost of Dracky Comp. LOL ...not that I minded missing it. haha
"Boktai fans don't care if you like it, they just love when people talk about it" I literally threw my hands in the air and yelled "Facts!" when hearing that. Boktai, despite it's crossovers with megaman, is an INCREDIBLY niche franchise in the west, so folks like me who love the game just get happy at the game getting MERE ATTENTION, in an english audience.
Billy is "ビリー" in Japanese. It's a literal translation of the virus's name. ビリビリ or びりびり (lit. biribiri) is an onomatopoeia for several sound including the sound of getting shocked by electricity. That's the most likely reason for the name.
Tournament scenarios in this game I think are neat:
- Yuko (It's okay, I guess. It ties into some BBS information about Ghost Navis later on, and it's not too tedious. Also the only time Hub comes up in the game.) - TopMan (Tensuke manages to strike a fun line between crotchety and charming for me. He created a crappy Navi just to make his grandkid happy. And the secrets you get from the Boomer Club tell you how his attacks work before the boss fight.) - SparkMan (Easy to cheese with the cipher. Thanks speedrun strats.) - AquaMan (Fairly short and the Soul you get for it is kinda decent.) - Flave (Minigame sucks, but it feels like the inspiration for Shokugeki no Souma, and that's worth the price of admission to me.) - Roll (It's the only time you get to fight her and her Soul is pretty OP defensively, if a bit lacking offensively.) - JunkMan (It's short and the only time you visit Yumland in the last tournament, which is a really visually interesting area architecturally.)
I want to like Crasher (old lady doing the Shun Goku Satsu), MetalMan (drunk guy calling you IDJIT and making you buy him booze), and KendoMan (Mr. Famous "sealing a guy's technique" by breaking his arms). Unfortunately, everything in those scenarios aside from those moments suck ass. And the other scenarios are just whatever or outright frustrating to me.
Billy is actually a mistranslation of "Biri" The Japanese onomatopoeia for the sound of Electricity, and since Billy's usually are in sets of 2, it's "Biri Biri" so the actual sound for Electricity.
I mean for BN3 > 4, Megaman getting eaten by Alpha and being replaced at the end of the credits could explain why his NaviCust is missing. You are forced to get the NaviCust as MegaMan won't let you leave without checking the mail that has it.
Yay! I actually just finished my run of blue moon on the LC. I'm doing a single run of each game before circling back...once is enough. You're a soldier doing it as many times as you have
Fun fact about Doug Walker; the initial reason he wanted to stop making the nostalgia critic is because of his review of the 2001 film Moulin Rouge!
Because he thought that review, generally agreed to be one of his worst, was so good of a review that he peaked as a reviewer and had nowhere else to go.
actually, "violence on kid" doesn't have to wait till BN6, in BN3 and 4, the moment Lan go to another country, he seems to get beat up by foreigners so i guess the magic barrier prevent any violence only work in ACDC town.
Regarding Billy’s name, I’m willing to bet it’s a mistranslation of a Japanese pun, as ‘biri’ is the Japanese onomatopoeia for the sparking sound of electricity. But because of the whole thing where Japanese syllables with L and R are conflated with each other, I assume that was initially translated directly to ‘Billy’ and then no further changes were made on the second pass because… that already sounds like an English name
