There's also Princess Aerea Targaryen that rode Balerion to Valyria. Return with Balerion heavily wounded and Aerea contracted a disease that burn her from within. When submerged to iced water, a worm like creature of heat & fire with the length of human arm hiss and died from the cold of the ice.

Something to point out if it hasn't been mentioned yet, they are sailing on wooden ships that probably use pine tar or pitch for waterproofing. If the seas are boiling, that means it starts to boil the waterproofing material. So even if they avoided structures under the waves, the toxic gas clouds and the changes in buoyancy, their ships would begin to take on boiling water and they would slowly sink with no means of escape.

I love the fact that out of all the kings dragon riders great fleets that tried to go to Valyria the only one that came back is a crazy ironborn with just a longship and his crew of freaks.

Quality animated series would probably be the way to go if this story were to ever to truly be imagined and keep a respectable budget…

Imagine 2-3 movies about the doom, earthquakes, sinkholes, volcanoes, fire and blood magic and last but not least DRAGONS. Literaly a live action atlantis movie with dragons.

I don't think the Mantaryans would feel any kinship with Daenerys even if they were Valyrians. Presumably, they are slavers, just like the Freehold was and just like all their neighbours are. She is a threat to their power and livelihood and besides, isn't it very Valyrian indeed to fight other Valyrians for power and dominance?

It's a bit like Chernobyl and Pripyat. Lingering danger from a past disaster, old ruins. The radiation in Valyria sounds much worse though plus all the other toxic fumes, not to mention the active volcanoes 😅

The same people who want a doom movie/series are the same people who want a Yoda one. It’s the mystery that makes it so interesting. There are hundreds of thousands of videos on the mysteries and theories of various universes and they drop off and become boring when the mysteries have a final answer because no human writer is capable of giving everybody what they want.

Two powerful Varyarian dragon lords families feuding with one being cousin's with the Targaryens would be such a dope story. It could be set towards the doom of Varlyia. The Targaryens can just be minor characters but still a instrumental part!

This is amazing. I always am curious about Old Valaryia now and wish George would give us more. I love how you clarified the difference between OV and the Sorrows. I think your description of the journeys takes into all the valid theories of OV. Can’t wait for next episode.
