I thought the game would have way more depth considering it took so long to finally get out. Fully agree it really feels like an early access title

I agree with pretty much everything you said here, though a few specific things that bother me with the game is the fact that for a restaurant management game, it gives you surprisingly few tools to actually manage your restaurants effectively, with my biggest peeve being how managers seem to only buy things when they've basically run out already.  To add to this, every time one of your managers restocks something, you get a notification about it. Right now I've only got two restaurants and I'm getting a notification every 10 seconds or so. I don't even want to imagine what it's going to be like when I own all the restaurants 😂

Also, it's kind of baffling how there's no way to place furniture more precisely than just eyeballing it.  I spent at least 10 minutes trying to line up a corner cabinet against a wall in one of my restaurants because of this.

Definitely sounds like an early early access situation. Thank you for the helpful evaluation.

My favorite thing is the atmosphere and all the characters, I love exploring and interacting with the dialogues!

You really should play Cloudpunk, it's nothing like this. It's a narrative focused taxi driver game in the same city

This is a great review, and your point on it feeling like it should have an early access label is spot on.

They've build this incredible city, that has the potential to be so immersive. The illusion shatters once you realize there isn't quite as much as you expected beneath the surface.

I hope they keep working on it, feels like a diamond in the rough

Cloudpunk had a playable game system with a space shooter minigame you could get for the apartment (though I think it was added post-launch). I'm surprised if there is nothing like that in Nivalis Nights.

This is a super super solid review and video! Glad it was recommended

Thank you for an honnest and complete review.  Those points that you brought up were good and crucial for me. Not too many people even consider those, so thank you!

The depth of mechanics kind of remind me of Schedule I. Very easy to understand and they appear very fleshed out on the surface but just kind of fizzle out. I love the narrative though.

Since this is the first video I saw of you I would like to give my opinion on your review as a whole .
I enjoy your honest style with no sugar-coating the bad and/or dumb stuff .
Also a big plus is that you keep your human-elements in like giggling, sighing, voice-cracks a.s.o. in - this makes it feel natural and alive over stiff cut, reading out a list of facts:face-red-heart-shape:.
Without you saying it directly it's audible how frustrated you  seem that this game could have been so so much more .
it's so refreshing to see a review that isn't delivered with fake excitement, ignoring the bads, just to shill a few copies .
I Hope this evaluation didn't offend you by accident.

about the game itself .
Maybe after a few years in the oven it becomes great, " IF " they give it the time needed in the oven, which they don't have to since it's not labelled as EA, so no high hopes there .
This Life-Sim ( as you mentioned ) needs a way way better relationship system, a way better and more meaning-full management part,
that you could intertwine, e.g. : sick employees which you can visit or pay for doctors to build loyalty and deepen relationships with them,
more interactions with other stalls, eg : manipulate the food of rivals to give visible food poisoning to their customers, bribing bobbies so they close their business for health-inspections or the ability to partner up with an owner which personality you enjoy .
And especially without the ability to really have pets, like adopting a lonely stray kitty 🐈‍⬛ it's a big no-no and goes on the "maybe later" list for me .

I also waited a long time to be able to buy this game. And i bought it  and start playing and dont feel bad. But seeing this video i realise too much things i never notice and are true. Really. After seeing this i dont know how much longer i would play. because i wasnt play too much but i dont really see too much to do honestly.

I hope they keep making updates to it and give it more content. Thanks for the review.

Well explained, kinda regret buying it now. I hope they add more stuff in the future. I hope the developers watched your video 👍👍

Also, you have the best voice. Such a lovely texture, like rough leather. Nice

I appreciate this review so much. I have been looking forward to this game for so long... guess Im just gonna give it a few months and see if they make the game any better... hopefully...

I was in the market for a game like this, now i know i need to let it cook a bit. Will sit on the wishlist i suppose lol

Thank you for a genuinely honest review. You can feel the emotion when you're talking about the whole game and that's how you know. Raw feeling, like you had some talking points that you let yourself run with. I think its a great way to be personally.
Subscribed! I see a lot of similar games i have in my own library lol I'm sure ill see more from here.

This is great review and very honest about your experience with the game.

I'm close to 20 hours in and agree with everything you say. I can't really see me playing all that much more right now as it simply doesn't have enough gameplay loops of depth to do so.

Set and setting is damn good though and I hope it only get better!

I just found your channel right now (just now subscribed as well). I've been wanting to play this game. I've been very excited about it. After watching your video, I will be holding off on buying the game and playing it. Until they add more and adjust things. Based off your feelings along with showing us the gameplay (e.g. the duplicate characters). Noticing that and many other things, it is concerning. Overall, thank you very much for this information. 💜

This game reminds me of the original Grand Theft Auto, a game that's been lost to its much more shiny sequels.  It's trying to do something different, its kind of a blending of genres, and as a result it feels a bit unpolished, but I'm still charmed by the novelty of it.  I have hope that they either put some more time into this game, or parlay this one into a more fleshed out sequel.
