Resident Evil Lore: S.T.A.R.S. Bravo & Alpha Team Explained in Full (1990–1998) | Umbrella, Arklay Mountains, Spencer Mansion & Raccoon City

This lore video covers the point where Resident Evil truly begins: Umbrella's control of Raccoon City, the creation of S.T.A.R.S., and how Bravo Team and Alpha Team became entangled in a 1998 experiment disguised as a "mission"—but actually designed to provide Umbrella with combat data. If you want to understand why S.T.A.R.S. had to be destroyed, how Wesker uses the team, and how the path from Resident Evil 0 leads directly to Resident Evil 1, you've come to the right place. ✅

👉 Recommendation: Watch Umbrella Lore Part 1 beforehand if you want the complete Umbrella backstory (Spencer, the origins of the virus, the basis of the timeline). Part 2 here explains the crucial years in which S.T.A.R.S. was formed and disbanded.

✅ What's the video about (obviously) (Chronological)

🧬 Umbrella in the 1990s – Raccoon City is purchased

Umbrella publicly becomes a "philanthropist": schools, an orphanage, police sponsorship – while secret research facilities expand underground. Spencer has labs built in Raccoon City and the Arklay Mountains, while facilities in Africa/Antarctica are simultaneously developed. The biggest secret project, however, is the ARK: an extremely deep-lying research facility working on Elpis/Alpis – an approach to making humans controllable. The name Victor Gideon also appears here – important for later lore.

In spring/summer, cases begin to pile up: missing hikers, brutal deaths, contaminated water. Bravo Team is sent to the Arklay Mountains – officially for "murder/cannibalism," but in reality as part of Umbrella's experiment. A crash occurs, the team splits up, and a chain reaction ensues:

Simultaneously, Alpha Team is dispatched – and finds themselves in the same nightmare. Joseph Frost dies after the dog attack, Brad flees, and the others escape to the mansion: Spencer Mansion / Resident Evil 1 begins.

👉 Which death in the Bravo Team was the worst for you: Edward, Richard, Forest, Enrico, or Kenneth?

👉 And do you think Billy Coen is really "gone forever"?
