In this video, Tabby and I stay on the brand new, solar-powered Pangolin Voyager Houseboat on the Chobe River. With us were fellow safari YouTubers, Mark Dumbleton and Richard van Haght, our friends Lance and Kirstin van de Vyver of Panthera Photo Safaris, and Pangolin host, Janine Krayer.
From the Pangolin Voyager, we explored both the Namibian and Botswana side of the Chobe River with the smaller Pangolin photo boat, allowing us to get close to a massive variety of stunning birds and mammals along the channels and shoreline. The photo boat is perfectly designed for photography, with a row of eight swivel chairs, each with its own gimbal arm, in the middle, and plenty of room to sit on the ground on either side. The Pangolin Photo Safaris guide, Ray, was a master of getting us into position, especially considering how strong the current was after all the recent rains, whilst Janine gave us advice and settings to improve our photos.
The Pangolin Voyager Houseboat itself is a work of art! It's incredibly beautiful and cleverly designed, with five comfortable and luxurious cabins and the bottom and lovely social spaces at the top, including a dark and air-conditioned editing suite. And best of all - it's solar powered thanks to a massive solar array on the roof, not only making it a much quieter experience, but also one that's much better for Mother Nature!
