Citroën C15: the van Citroën couldn't seem to kill. Born from an industrial defeat, this small utility vehicle should have disappeared within a few years. Assembled from the Citroën Visa, itself built on the Peugeot 104 platform, with a rear suspension inherited from the Peugeot 305 estate, it had nothing to become a legend. And yet, with its 2.67 cubic meters of cargo space in a vehicle less than 4 meters long, its 1124 cc gasoline engine, and especially its famous 1769 cc XUD diesel engine launched at the 1984 Paris Motor Show, it crushed the Renault 4 van and forced Renault to retaliate with the Express. Bakers, plumbers, electricians, fishermen, hunters: all of working France adopted it. Launched in 1984, it was supposed to be replaced by the Berlingo in 1996, but it continued to sell for another 10 years, until the mid-2000s, after more than 1,181,471 units were produced. This is the story of the most stubborn van in French automotive history, the one that its own manufacturer never managed to kill.
