So some people thought that Darius, the creator of the Blade used it differently and later on people misinterpreted the use and lost the finger. Darius was always seen as a "honourary" assassin and never actually part of the Brotherhood

Then when Origins releases, someone at Ubisoft decided to turn this theory into a real thing with the Blade being originally upside down and Bayek creating the Tenets of the Creed within the Base Game and DLC, whether this is a good thing or bad thing is debatable

Darius being a Assassin that is just a ripoff of the Brotherhood is 100% because Odyssey writers are terrible and misunderstood his inclusion within AC2. This straight up killed Darius as a character for me.

I gotta be honest with you.... Assassin's Creed was supposed to have 6 games with 6 of Desmond's ancestors.
But the lore started to not make sense when Altaïr get a cliffhanger of an ending and Ezio's full story was split in 2 parters (AC 2 and AC Brotherhood) and after that it got sidetracked to Ubislop getting rid of Desmond but still milking the franchise to the point that they don't need modern-day anymore.

Patrice Desilet is an amazing writer but his AI controversy to make his game in Amsterdam 1666 was a sign that someone should looked into the OG AC games if it's lore was consistent in the first place...

If you think out of the 1000 years of the brotherhood since the end of Origins, that Altair was the first guy to think of double hidden blades you're pretty dumb lmao. What would be a retcon is if the Assassin in constantinople somehow found a way to NOT lose his ring finger
