Join us for a day in Szeged, one of Hungary's most beautiful and fascinating cities! 🇭🇺
Today Szeged is known for its grand architecture, wide boulevards, sunshine and famous Fisherman's Soup, but much of the city we see today exists because of one catastrophic event: the Great Flood of 1879.

In this video, we explore how the flood changed Szeged forever and how the city was rebuilt afterwards. We also look into the story of the old Szeged Castle, parts of which were dismantled and reused during the reconstruction of the city.
Along the way, we try one of the city's most famous dishes, Szegedi Fisherman's Soup, talk about the fascinating Tiszavirágzás phenomenon on the River Tisza, and visit some of Szeged's most impressive landmarks, including the Votive Church (Fogadalmi templom) and the beautiful New Synagogue.
And of course, no day exploring Hungary would be complete without some food — so we also stop for cakes at the stunning Reök Confectionery. 🍰
Come explore Szeged with us and discover the history, food, architecture and stories that helped shape this remarkable Hungarian city.
