Paul Bigsby was the engineer/pattern maker/ machinist that was the key to Crocker success. And yes it was Paul Bigsby that designed and built the Bigsby tremolo that all us guitar players know so well.

Al Crocker was sourcing his pistons from Harley at one time. When HD decided they didn’t like Al competing with them in the market place, they cut him off. I think it was Smokey Joe Petrali who saved the day by secretly sourcing them through Sacramento Harley Davidson, back when Frank Murray owned it.
Ballsy move by everyone involved.

I first met Matt's dad because of their Crocker. They had it as part of a display at a bike show in Atlanta. I was fixated, looking at every minor detail. Eventually, Dale came up to me and said, "You've been looking at this for thirty minutes. Is there any questions you have?"  I didn't have but a few, everything else was talking about what a cool machine Crocker was. Dale was a great guy, and Matt is the same.

Just seen 2 of the nicest restored Crocker's on the planet this last Friday. Fantastic bikes.

This is what I love: machines so visceral they leave teeth marks in my heart.

My Dad had one he bought used with low miles.
He said it was fast as he ever wanted to go.
But the weld at the head kept breaking making it very dangerous.
He was scared one day the whole front forks would just Crack off,  and he would go face first into the ground at high speed.
My Dad was born in 1924 just to give some prospective. He sold it before going in the navy for WW2. In those days he told me welding technology was nothing like now.

Fantastic that authentic Crockers are being built. At some point they should evolve and refine the bikes as if the original Crocker had continued to be developed.

I ride to North Carolina from Texas almost every year, and have been to Wheels Through Time multiple times. The Crocker in their collection is one of the must sees every time. It was a Super Bike way ahead of it's time, and when you get down and look at it closely, you appreciate that you're looking at an amazing piece of motorcycle art.

Really hope that revived Crocker enterprise takes off. If i was loaded i would definitely explore getting one.

Another great bart drop! I really appreciate how these videos started with the heavy-hitters, the bikes that mattered most AT THE TIME, but also that matter most TO US TODAY. After getting past the Bonnevilles and CB750s and Knuckleheads, I know it gets more difficult to decide where to put your efforts. This video is a great example of focusing on a brand that meant a lot in its day, and influenced a lot of what came after, even AFTER the company was no more. Thank you!

Now, although I know some of what I'm about to suggest is covered in other of your videos, I'd like to make a case for giving us some "History Of" videos. A lot of us choose bart in addition to Yammie or Fortnine or others, because of the heavy lean toward historiography found on this channel. We need a historical perspective on ADVs, Cruisers, Sport Bikes, etc. And you are THE trusted source for this type of Historical Storytelling. Listen to one podcast of "American Historytellers" or "History That Doesn't Suck." These are almost what you're doing already, and it would hit a spot that isn't really being filled well by anyone else. Keep up the good work!

Truly a beautiful bike - basically every custom hardtail bobber I've ever loved is fundamentally just trying to look like this thing.

The well-crafted machines survive the ages. Nice to see this being brought back as was.

Paul Bigsby also built the first truly workable Pedal Steel Guitars. He made more than 100 while only about 29 electric guitars.
Just about every Pedal Steel Guitar since then has been advancements on his designs, but were it not for Paul Bigsby the very idea might have faded away.
He als raced and most often won with the Croker motor bikes in his early days.

I’ve never heard of Crocker, but when they kicked them over, I was immediately embarrassed for Harley. That’s a motorcycle! Smooth power. So cool they’re continuing them. Excellent video!
