I Rebuilt My Travel Emergency Kit — The New SAPHE Box Is So Much Better!

Perrie's Passport

My messy SAPHE Box is finally FIXED! This is my updated, better organized travel emergency kit that goes everywhere with me - from flights and layovers to hotels.

You all know how much I love being prepared, but my original SAPHE box (Supplies And Pharmaceutical Essentials) was getting messy and hard to find things. So I rebuilt it into a new, smaller, smarter system that actually stays organized in my carry-on.

In this video I'm showing you:
✓ Why I ditched the old box for a new organized pouch
✓ Exactly what's inside my SAPHE Box 2.0 (supplies, pharmaceuticals & safety)
✓ How I organized it so I can find anything in seconds
✓ How to build YOUR own personalized version

This is the travel essentials system I use as a minimalist traveler who flies with just a carry-on and personal item - compact, TSA-friendly, and ready for anything.

Thank you for this new video. I'm updating my saphe kit and this was great. I'm using a soft kit rather than the jewellery box. Its more malleable but overall the idea is so workable, adaptable and I love the idea of having removable pouches for day use in the handbag. Love your work. Its down to earth, cost effective and relatable. I look forward to your clips. They change my whole travel experience. Well done 😊

Retired RN here. I think you did a GREAT job. In addition to what you have, I also have a couple gauze pads, some cortisone cream, part of a roll of self-adhesive bandage, and a finger splint. I carry the creams/ointments in single use packets which prevents cross-contamination & maintains effectiveness longer. I also have single use containers of tincture of benzoin. This is a skin protectant/adhesive that is used under steristrips to keep them in place longer. I found it VERY disturbing that you weren't able to get such basic first aid supplies on the river cruise!

You might want to add some q-tips to your pouch with the creams in the contact lens cases to use to apply the creams. You could cut them in half if they’ll fit better that way.

Very nice detail! We just went to Iceland and I did have many of those things but not as well organized. I did find these lovely small double zip meshed bags on Amazon. They had a zipper on the top and the zipper on the side, so it really kept the small things nicely separated. I also got snack size baggies at Walmart that open on the narrow end. They are wonderful to put bottles in and zip it up so if you have a leak it’s contained. I also cut the bags to size, making one really tiny with my face melt away face wash. Then I use packing tape to close up the bottom. I liked it so much better than folding the little baggies. You always have the best ideas.

Finally an minimalist packer who went on a river cruise and found out some of the limitations! This is a great video with some great tips, love the retooled jewelry box. I’m going to try to get mine down to this size.

I would include a tiny eyeglass (or watch) repair kit with tiny screwdriver and a few tiny screws and nose pads. Nothing is worse than losing an eyeglass screw or pad on your trip. Great video!

How do you label the contact cases? Sharpie always rubs off when I try to use one to label.

This is such a great video, Perrie! I took notes to use it as a checklist when packing!

I think you covered all the bases! Very impressive for the size of your kit. You're 100% right, stuff happens when you're away from the comforts of home.

I forgot to say, that I am almost at the point where I need to declare my bottle of MiraLAX. Three times now my luggage has been stopped and checked, taking the bottle out and using wand to screen it. The funniest time my personal item bag was checked was for a loaf of gluten-free bread. 🍞

Hi Perrie. An "edit" every few months is always usrdful. I keep a supply of pouches, toiletry bags, several size ziploc bags, and plastic lined drawstring wash bags, so I've usually got the right size for what I need. If I need to use packed wash things during a journey they can go in the wash bag afterwards. Another useful thing to have is a square of "grip and non slip" mesh. Good to use on the pull down tray,, stop items moving around, and also brilliant for getting the better of bottle screw caps that just don't want to unscrew. E❤
