Lana is the evolution in music industry, she invented her new genre, although Billie is so close to that genre yet no one can perfectly perform as lana can ❤

Lana may not get her flowers now but 20-30yrs from now she will be seen in the same vein as we see the Beatles, joni Mitchell, Aretha Franklin, etc today.

Lana is so iconic 😭

"Imitation is the highest form of flattery'

Lana is her own genre 💅

Simple, Lana is the Queen and a REAL Person! With no compromises in her Vision!

2:46  and now pitchfork praises lana more ❤

Hearing Lana for the first time (Blue Jeans in 2012) when I was 21 was literally one of the most formative events of my life and identity dead ass

Pure Heroine wouldn’t have existed without Born to Die. It was the first record after BTD that really felt influenced by Lana. That melancholic pop sound from the mid 2010s is BTD’s influence, and it’s still a source of influence today which is crazy.

Very good analysis. I am just waiting for her new album 😂😂. Every day it's supposedly coming 😅

Lana is living legend

Absolutely! Her influence is undeniable! ❤Her music is unlike any others. Billie Eilish rode the wave of Sadcore thanks to Lana as you pointed out in the video, at least Billie is aware of it. Born To Die being in the Billboard 200 for 12 years proves how influential she is. It was never an east ride for her but she kept doing what she wanted to do, Ultraviolence struggled to even get released, The label was not happy with it's sound and how there was no "commercial sounding songs" she sent tracks to Adele's producer, and he loved them and said don't change anything then suddenly the label was ok with it. It's ridiculous that she will never win a Grammy because they don't like her from that SNL performance. It's outrageous. NORMAN deserved the Grammy, it was the most critically acclaimed album. I think working with Jack Antonoff also gave her a bigger platform and being friends with Taylor Swift (also appearing in a song with her). Sadly she will never get a Grammy if she didn't win one for Norman or Ocean Blvd. I don't think she cares about fame or promotion anymore, she's married and rarely ever goes on social media, i miss her random vintage posts of her driving or singing, if she does release this new album The Right One Will Stay in May, I think it will just be a quiet Blue Banisters release with no promotion at all, she will release 1-3 songs on streaming out of nowhere before she plays Stage Coach next month play the 5 UK stadium shows then probably disappear for years. At this rate I could even see her giving up singing to live a quiet life, I read she is looking for houses in Louisiana. 😭

diet pepsi was such a copy of lana style in plain sigh

excellent video essay.

I hate it soo much when artists trying to give queen lana del Rey songs !!! But it’s life you know

Love your analysis. Lana is like the this generations version of Bob Dylan or something.

As a Lana fan since Born to Die it’s so strange bc I used to get made fun of for it and now ppl act like I’m a woman of taste for loving her 😂

The answer is so obvious: Lana is a watershed in pop music. There is music before Lana Del Rey, and music after Lana Del Rey. Haters oughtta accept this incontestable fact. Period.

My queeeeeeen !!! 💙

I literally just made a video about Lana copy cats and now this album came out 💀😭

Alt Pop or Alt Folk or even straight up Alternative music.  She is the American Kate Bush
