Heading east from Yagi in Nantan City, Kyoto Prefecture.
This is a guide to a hidden gem of a Kyoto mountain road tour, taking you through the foothills of Koshigata and Shikimigahara at the foot of Mount Atago, from the Toin district to Hozukyo Station, and then on to Saga.
While Kyoto is famous for Arashiyama and its city center tourist spots, if you venture a little further into the mountains, you'll find "another Kyoto"—peaceful rural landscapes, traditional villages, and pleasant mountain roads.
This time, I enjoyed a leisurely ride through these Kyoto mountain areas on my beloved motorcycle.
However, there was a slight miscalculation that day…
All the shops I had planned to stop at were completely sold out!
Even though it was within their business hours, they had already closed for the day.
If you're planning a ride specifically to visit popular shops, I recommend stopping as early as possible.
A quiet, rural mountain touring experience, a departure from the typical tourist spots of Kyoto.

水尾の愛宕山参道入口迄行って戻る時に外国人のカップルに声を掛けられました
『この道、山行けますか？』って
「かなり時間掛かると思いますけど行けますよ」と答えましたけど、そのカップルかなり軽装で何処から歩いて来たんだろう？と思ったら保津峡駅からだったんですね。
樽の所、もう少し季節が進むと色付いて風情があって良い感じになりますね
今回、お店運が無かったですね
低糖障害(ハンガーノック)にはお気を付けて。
お疲れ様でした。
確か以前は柚料理に柚子風呂提供する民家があったと思います。
樒原は樽前の公民館から黄金の景色眺めたのが印象深いです
また行きたくなりました🤭
柚子の産地で山間部となると、古座川町平井のような場所ですね。
おっぱい豆腐の名前から、形が想像できました😆形はこうでも、美味そうな豆腐ですね。
