Almost all euro cars in Aus require AT LEAST 95. Putting 91 in was probably the problem.

Think the downgrade of fuel was the mistake. Drain the tank and refill with 98, maybe change the fuel filets too.

A single BMW headlight unit for a 2015 420d costs £1850 plus shipping. I would still argue that I have a (very nice) cheap BMW but I get the feeling they are becoming disposable - not because of poor manufacture but because the new car industry hates the thought of resales or repairs. BTW - I fixed my headlights with a £12 hairdryer and a few ml of silicone.

Not trying to rake you over the coals here, but you should really bring an OBD2 reader with you whenever you pick up a new vehicle like this. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten a check engine light while on a test drive, and without the OBD2 reader, there's no way I would have been able to diagnose the seriousness of the trouble code.

My god, I used to live in Toowong a few hundred metres from that petrol station. I also recognise the places you filmed up at mt Coot-tha. I now work and live in the Netherlands! I should go back for a visit.

My £500 Cayenne has done the NC500, Skye, and the Czech Republic at Christmas. We also took it to the Leipzig Porsche factory (were all Cayennes are made) for its birthday.

It’s a great car………but it’s the 3.2VR6 which is bulletproof.

The lowest octane fuel in Europe is 95. 99 is the ideal for big engines like this. I’m impressed you got it as far as you did. An octane booster additive would’ve probably have solved it

The first thing I thought of was a nicked or burnt wire. Notorius for rubbing on the engine block
causing a short. I would still check for that. Glad all is good. Enjoyed the video as always.

Reacting on your Bentley-vid (why turn reactions off when you ask for advise?)... If you don't have it in black and white, on paper or email that the engine needed to be sorted out first, I think you will not win this, unfortunately. I would now go for the best result and turn this one into a wonderful daily driver ;-)

Used to work near Toowong and laughed at the joke. I once broke down up by 1770 the town in qld and the tow truck driver had gone fishing so had to wait 8 hours in the heat until he came back and had supper.

I owned a 955 turbo (in Melbourne as well) for a few years which had a number of issues , some cheap and easy to DIY fix, some a little more complicated. Cracked coolant lines to turbos, air suspension level faults, brake booster leaks, PCV leak, engine damper failed, boot shocks failed, leaking sunroof drains, and of course the common propshaft bearing support failure - which I fixed halfway between Adelaide and Melbourne on the side of the road using zipties and spare vacuum hose. Good luck with the fix, but it might've just been the wrong grade of fuel.
