Justin and I would love to have you on our channel, The Transfigured Life, please join us and let's talk about this in more detail...and let's try to answer your questions!

"Doing burpees for the Lord!" 😂😂 That cracked me up. I'm glad you were able to go. Wonderful video bro! ☦️

Hey there, I'm the Deacon who came up and introduced myself to you after the service was over. I'd love to sit down and talk with you about the service and answer your questions about the Orthodox Christian faith.

I’m glad you went to visit an Orthodox service. I went to my first liturgy 8 months ago and have been going ever since.

I might have to just do a video response here to answer your questions.

Ex-CoC elder here...
One of the reasons I converted to EO was Paul instructing the early Church leaders to keep the oral and written traditions that were passed on to them. I read the first, second and third century writings to discover exactly what were the oral traditions that was not captured in the written traditions of the apostles. This search and study lead me on my path to Orthodoxy. It was true, for me, that if one studies church history they usually do not stay protestant.  May God bless you on journey to fine God's truth.

The book of Revelation has smells and bells.

Hello,

Orthodox here, next time you decide to visit please email the Priest and let him know you’re coming. You can also try to get there earlier to introduce yourself to the Priest. He can also be the one to answer all your questions if you feel comfortable to ask.

Some times there’s a coffee hour after the service feel free to stick around.

The “second communion” you’re speaking of is likely the blessed bread the Priest gives to those who were unable to partake in receiving the Eucharist.

You picked a wonderful time of the year to visit the Orthodox Church, we are in the Lenten season.

Come and see brother ! ☦️

Hey, Marco. My name is David. I was born and raised Church of Christ. I've always been very devoted to my faith, big on studying Scripture, got involved in ministry and preaching, etc. I'm now a serious Orthodox inquirer willing to leave it all behind. A lot happened for me to get here. But it's because I love Christ, I want the honest truth, and my aim above all is to please Him. I genuinely see that in you too. I appreciate your heart. Time will tell where our paths will lead. May God bless yours, bro.

I’ve been waiting for this video. I’m glad you enjoyed your visit!  ☦️

I don't think anyone was getting seconds of the Eucharist. They were probably having the blessed bread and wine after receiving.

Your genuine interest and openness to learn and follow Christ no matter what is very inspiring!

☦Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal have mercy on us☦

That "room" is the altar. It is the Holy of Holies, not just a representation. It is where the priest prepares the eucharist, where the book of the Gospels is held, where the reserve host is held for the sick and shut-ins, and where the priest leads us in offering our worship to God. Upon the altar is a cloth containing a relic of a marytr, which is blessed by the Bishop granting the priest the right to administer the Eucharist. The wall is called an iconostasis. Not anyone is allowed behind the iconostasis, only men with a purpose are allowed.
One thing to remember we Orthodox don't view things within the Church as mere symbols. The Eucharist is the body and blood, baptism saves, the altar is the Holy of Holies, ect.

Let my prayer be set before You as incense, The lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice. Psalm 141 vs.2

8:30 You cant get "seconds for the eucharist" in our tradition. It was probably antidoron, blessed bread from which the Eucharist is cut, which is typically distributed at the end. Presuming also this was a pre-sanctified they were likely small blessed loaves but that is not really the point

“I don’t ever want to stand before Jesus…” amen my brother.

I came from the Church of Christ too. St. Seraphim's is now my cathedral.

I love it! I'm glad you have questions about it. The commitment to truth you talk about in the beginning is exactly what led me from churches of Christ to the Eastern Orthodox Church. May God continue to bless you and may your questions be answered! If I can help in any way, I will. We live pretty close to each other.
