A lot of people have mentioned the R36S in the comments section of several of the videos that I've published talking about budget-friendly retro handhelds. And I get it, you want to get the best bang for your buck. You want to be able to save money but also get some decent performance.

And even though this is a carbon copy of a carbon copy of a retro handheld, I've got to say that I'm impressed with what I've seen. This is easily a handheld that I can recommend to anyone.

UPDATE: My R36S unit was a dud. What happened with mine isn't the norm, but an outlier. I'm seeing a lot of people saying that this is too much work for a handheld. If you buy it, chances are it will work right out of the box. I had to install ArkOS, because mine didn't work at all.

18:35 it’s for people like me who are just nerdy enough to want to play vintage games on an airplane but don’t want to spend much time or money. It will sit in my drawer 9 months out of the year. But when I bust it out it’s awesome.

Got mine on Ali express for 28 on sale, best purchase I have made in a LONG time. Playing thru Pokémon fire red again has unlocked a part of my childhood that I let go of on accident

I used to save up months for a new game ... Now I can get all the games and the consoles for 40 bucks 😂

I just got one for my 6yo nephew who wants "something to play games on" for Christmas. I opened it and was immediately impressed with the physical build of it and for 31 bucks I want one for myself now. The screen really impressed me. I hope it really makes his christmas.

Fun fact: If a game isn't running smoothly on the r36s, try changing the settings a bit to fix it. And if it still doesn't work, idk keep trying bc if you can make god of war run then I'm sure you can make most work too.

I just ordered one and found this video to be very insightful so thank you for taking the time and effort to put it together. I'm like you in that I prefer to play 8 and 16 bit games when it comes to emulators so I'm excited to get my unit and try it out. Thankfully I now have this video to go back to if I need any pointers.

The last week I’ve upgrade twice. I am now currently waiting for this one. I hope it’s good enough to keep. So many it’s overwhelming 😂

On amazon Oct 22nd and Oct 24th the price dropped to $28 for the 128GB purple. Watch out for these price drops to anyone looking to start Christmas shopping.

Best Handheld to modify! Adding heatsink and other stuff is fun on this device.

@Ewerstattoos 1 year ago

I got this for £24 for that price. It’s so worth it. It’s nothing incredible but it’s an easy way to play so many different games and it cost less than one new game definitely something I’m going to buy friends for Christmas.

Handheld retro devices are new to me. I only tried Sup Mini games which doesn't last longer. I got to know about R36S from a co-traveler during my flight journey. Thanks to that guy and google took me to this video. Really interesting and planning to buy one.

A question for everyone here. What is the best value for money handheld on the market today? And why?

@LoungeGG 1 year ago

Do you have by any chance a video just showing how to update the system, changing the sd andd everything? Thanks. Great review

I just ordered one of these. I love that it has all of these games, but for me, I bought it all for the old pokemon games, like blue, red, yellow, gold, silver , and of course the gba pokemon games. I will be playing the other games, but i just can’t wait for those nostalgic feels I get when I play them. I was at a mall in my city the other day. and some Hindi dude tried selling me one for $120 😂I told him nah I got one way cheaper then that and the same one. But I did open pokemon yellow on a display model, and omg I got so excited 😂
