“Not really working properly”
Quite the opposite actually, I’m pretty sure the wall being solid is an intended mechanic.

I remember the good old days when people were stumped on how to get to the metro kingdom’s main area without taking the electric wire

The year is 2030.  It is possible to beat Super Mario Odyssey with zero captures, but the run is so difficult that it is only run by TASers and Smallant.

Friendship with 10 captures ended.

Now 9 captures is my best friend.

you know shit gets real when we get to singular digit captures

"The scarecrow is borrowing my hat, but when I capture, I borrow the enemy's life permanently." - Smallant1

I was literally trying to work out how to skip pokio the other week. I don't know how to do out of bounds stuff so I spent a few hours just trying regular platforming... to say I failed would be an understatement.

Here’s why the nut needs to be wet:

(Bear in mind that I haven’t looked at the code or anything so this is speculation, but I am a game dev graduating from uni this year, so take it as you will)

The nut has an area around it, where if Mario is in that area and the player presses Grab, Mario grabs the nut - the grab-box.

While underwater, lining Mario up perfectly with the nut is difficult since he’s slow, carries momentum more heavily, and has an extra axis of movement, making precise movement much more difficult. To compensate for this, the game makes it so when the nut goes underwater, the nut’s grab-box gets bigger, so the player doesn’t need to be so precise with their swimming. More to the point, the grab-box gets taller, so Mario doesn’t have to stand on the seabed to pick up the nut, which would feel limiting and cumbersome.

Usually, when the nut passes the water’s surface, the grab-box would change depending on whether it’s entering or leaving the water. However, since the nut is teleported directly back to its spawnpoint, it never actually travels past the surface of the water, so the game still thinks it’s underwater. The taller grab-box allows Mario to grab the nut after he bounces on top of it, allowing the nut jump to be performed.

Ant: you can never expect a WR on your first run

Also Ant:

"I'm not insane, I'm nuts."

This is gonna be my quote from this run.

Ant was like a giddy 10 year old on Christmas morning waking up at 3 am to open presents the entire time he was doing this run, it was so fun to watch!

12:05 F in the chat please for the guy that dropped his phone.

Speediest editor in the west

And now not even a month later, 3 captures

I would love to see a minimum captures run at an event like gdq or something! Think it’s a really cool oddessy run that shows of a lot of cool stuff you wouldn’t normally get to see in any%

Nintendo: we have many capturable things!
Speed runners: 9

16:12 for the skip, super sick Ant!

"I'm gonna take these runs down until hopefully nobody wants to try them"

This just in, Smallant kills the min captures category, receives backlash

I remember when we first thought that only 14 captures were possible

Says "it's not working properly" when he can't get out of bounds
