Denzel Washington won an Oscar for this performance. Very good acting as a villain.

This is one of those movies where watching it multiple times just makes you appreciate the movie more and more

This is a movie that requires multiple viewing to really understand and catch all the little details that are missed, so you can fully follow, understand, and  appreciate the story.

Denzel did a great job in making you two hate him to the fullest.

Thanks for watching this classic. Denzel Washington delivered a powerfully chilling performance. His messy end in the conclusion karmic.

Denzel had the ending rewritten. He wanted Alonzo to die at the end. He said Alonzo was a bad guy who deserved to die

22:35 Hella: “Drive Away!!” Next sentence “Shoot the Tires!!” 😂

Everyone praises Denzel for his performance, and rightly so, but Ethan Hawke is equally brilliant in every scene.
Also, Cliff Curtis as Smiley demands attention in his few minutes on the screen.

"In Chicano slang, "vato" means "guy," "dude," or "man," often used as a term of address or to refer to a male friend. It's a common term in Mexican-American youth subculture and among Spanish-speaking communities. The plural form, "vatos," is also used." Source AI Overview

Your home is in hell might be the most badass line I've ever heard.

3:51 Chi on Alonzo Harris, "I don't have a good sense about him."
Right on the Money, Chi!
Follow that intuition!

39:51 Vato is Spanish slang for Dude, Guy, or Man. The word is mainly used by Mexican-American AKA Chicano gang members or Mexican Paisanos in mainland Mexico 🇲🇽.
For example: those Russian Vatos(Dudes) shot up Alonzo in cold blood.

This is a tremendous movie. It's hard to go wrong with either of our leads here, mind you. Both of them are incredibly talented actors.

45:15, they're whispering to the kid trying to be quiet so Alonzo doesn't hear them, LMAO. These 2 are too damn adorable.

Hella and Chi knock it out of the park again. Loved your moral discussion after. Great job ladies.

Fun Fact: "Munichies" in America refers to a strong hunger feeling after smoking weed 😂

it's amusing to watch reactors who don't appear familiar with denzel's long resume of heroic roles and thus aren't seduced by his oversized charisma into waiting and waiting for the climactic turnaround that ultimately justifies his psychotic behavior. these girls called out alonzo's arrogance and lawlessness the first minute they saw him. the irony is that denzel's reputation as a good guy helped sell the tension in his oscar-winning performance as a bad guy.

4:43 - a "narc" is a narcotics officer meaning an officer who investigates drug trafficking...

8:38  Alonzo puts a gun to Jake's head and tells him to get out of his car after he refuses to smoke weed on duty.
Hella, "Get the F out of there."
Chi, "Just get out of there."
