Aragorn did nothing wrong.

"Genocide perhaps the darkest word in any language" meanwhile stellaris players when they hear word Genocide 😍👂🎶🎵

I believe that while orcs weren't irredeemable in the cosmic sense, that is they could be by Eru Illuvatar, they were irredeemably evil in the context that elves and men of Middle-earth could not redeem them.  Their near total corruption is not to be diminished, because it is one of the greatest crimes of Melkor and a characterizing event for him.

When the Dark Tower fell, there were also probably a lot of prisoners in Sauron's dungeons, and perhaps slaves captured by Sauron and made to serve him unwillingly (most of those were in Nurn but still the Tower probably had some too), and these people also died. Gandalf and Elrond and Aragorn would have known this, but they chose to still go through with the plan because they could do nothing else for them and could not free them from Sauron in any other way. So I think choosing to destroy the Dark Tower in spite of all the Orcs being killed wasn't just thought to be okay because they were Orcs; they also sacrificed good people who are on their side. It is likely that being a prisoner or slave in the Dark Tower was a state so horrible that it was worse than death (even for Orcs since their wills were totally overpowered and crushed by Sauron), so perhaps they thought it was the best they could do for them; perhaps it was an act of pity and the most merciful thing that could be done for them since they couldn't take the Dark Tower and free them.

It’s strongly implied that the orcs genocided themselves through infighting after Sauron was defeated.

high king did nothing wrong

Darth Gandalf using this word on Youtube feels like Sam standing up in front of Shelob or the Witch-King.
Anyway, that's nice to see a new episode of this underrated series.
Exploring slavery among Easterling and Haradrim would also be a cool idea.
And what about Disease, Poison and Plagues in Middle-Earth ?
Lots of ideas actually

To be fair, even if the orcs are  redeemable, they are still not redeemable in any practical sense, so they didn't have much choice

It's been several years since I hit the upvote button, but I'm doing it here in recognition of your refusal to be complicit in the euphemism treadmill.

It's strongly hinted, that the witch kind caused a unnatural cold in Angmar. And with stuff like the barrow wights we can clearly see, that the magic lasts even if the witch king is somewhere else (Although If I think about it, the witch king probably wasn't too far away when this happened.). So I think, that this cold kinda made angmar inhospitable - even for orcs - without a dominating mind, that keeps them there.
Edit: BTW this video appeared normally in my start feed as all your videos do, because I watch like 95% of them.

The closing line is hilarious! I tip my cap to you sir for that one!

Honestly dwarven purge squad going from corner to corner cleansing their hold of old and wiping ALL orcs there is hella cool. Thats similar to space marines landing on spacehulk to exterminate tyranids or well... orcs. No remorse, no second thoughts. Every foe left alive that day is a foe someone else has to fight another day

Yes i commented on this being a video. It happened thank you darth gandalf. Been wondering if you would do a vid on this.

People who censor the words in audio or visuals are just silly, but people who don't talk about it at all are the worst.

You did a great job covering this topic. I like that you mentioned the point of mercy for Orc prisoners at 5:06. To quote Morgoth's Ring:

"They might have become irredeemable (at least by Elves and Men), but they remained within the Law. That is, that though of necessity, being the fingers of the hand of Morgoth, they must be fought with the utmost severity, they must not be dealt with in their own terms of cruelty and treachery. Captives must not be tormented, not even to discover information for the defense of the homes of Elves and Men. If any Orcs surrendered and asked for mercy, they must be granted it, even at a cost. This was the teaching of the Wise, though in the horror of the War it was not always."

Another quote from Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien for further thought on morality in Middle-Earth:

"So even if in desperation the West had bred or hired hordes of orcs and had cruelly ravaged the lands of other Men as allies of Sauron, or merely to prevent them from aiding him, their cause would have remained indefeasibly right."

- To be fair, in the case of Angmar, it said 'man', not 'woman or child', so they might have just wiped out the men (who may have all taken up arms against them), and it says 'no orc or man remained West of the Mountains' implying that some remained EAST of the Mountains. Some may have fled.
- Potentially the same answer in the case of hunting down 'every Orc that REMAINED in Rohan'.

Really good vidéo fr

Great video!

Strider did nothing wrong. Those goblins weren’t being redeemed by that point. He had a kingdom to look after, and was not under any obligation to just take endless orc raids in the vain hope that one of them would suddenly repent and start being good. It’s brutal and quite sad, but that’s how it goes sometimes.
