The problem with the Neo isn't the Neo but how reviewers, especially those on you tube, reviewed it. Most of them cant seem to do anything other than "content creator" mode "oh it cant edit 16x4k video clips with after effects whilst also exporting 500 50mb DNG files as JPGS." For 99% of everyday people the Neo will do everything you need. The Neo debacle shows how easily people are led by reviews and their niche takes without thinking what they would actually use it for. If i had the money id buy one....just not the green one.

The MacBook Neo is a very capable machine. I sold one to a client of mine. He had a MacBook Air from a previous generation and is now working very seamlessly. On the MacBook Neo you are correct, Mark. Those people who say the MacBook Neo is just a glorified iPad are so wrong, as it runs the Mac OS desktop operating system and is far from an iPad as it can be. It's a fully fledged workhorse.

I love, love, love my Neo. I could have easily bought an Air or even a Pro, but I don’t waste money on things I don’t need. I’m newly retired and I know exactly what I need from my computer and the Neo does it all effortlessly.

I literally cant stop using my Neo, there's something in me that gravitates towards it everyday. The satisfaction of navigating with it, just works to a tee! It's hilarious to me, that some people didn't want me to buy the Neo at all:face-fuchsia-wide-eyes:
But thank god I listened to my gut feeling at the time, way before the increases in prices globally. I'f you somehow can get one, even a used one! I'd highly recommend getting one, especially with the 512GB. The color should be entirely based on your own preferences, I went with the Citrus, and have even noticed it sometimes changes it's color a little, when placed in the evening sun light in my apartment. I'm really impressed about it's colourish nature:person-turquoise-wizard-wand:Anyways, You won't be disappointed.:goodvibes:

Good to hear you're well Mark, I've bought a base Neo and it does everything I need it for, I have gone from MacBook Pro, iPad Pro to Neo and iPad mini 7 - I am NOT a digital creator and never needed the top spec machines I bought due to being a fandango, my current kit does all I need as an educator/trainer/researcher and the Neo runs Claude AI seamlessly.

Sorry to hear that you've not been well. Hope you're on the mend now. This video is great buying advice, Mark! 👍

Glad you are on the mend

i bought it and honestly, in this price range you can't find something more power efficient that works flawlessly. I am impressed, first time mac user here.
600$ to spend time with my kid at the playground while i work? Priceless! That itself sold the neo to me instantly, battery life amazing, all i wanted from a laptop.

I completely agree with you. The MacBook Neo is a very powerful device for the right use case. I myself have handled all my office work, including writing a specialist book, without any problems on this device. Even developing web apps with VS Code and Claude worked wonderfully.

I’ve now sold my iPad Air M3 with 24GB of RAM and used the money to buy a Neo for my wife and me. To be fair, though, I should also mention that I have a regular PC with 64GB of RAM for heavy-duty work. That said, aside from gaming, I haven’t done much with it over the past six months

Been watching you for years, but only just realised after the end of the video I wasn’t subscribed - very much am now! Thanks for another great video and also influencing my decision to buy an M4 Pro MacBook Pro…finger print magnet but it’s absolutely wonderful

“Apple HAD TO increase the prices.” Aaaw, my heart goes out to them, must be hard taking about 20% more after pocketing such high profits.

I could never put any stickers on my MAC that would do my head in big style 🤯

I absolutely love my Neo. It does everything I need it to do and more. I'm glad Apple finally produced a truly competitively priced entry level computer for the world of Mac OS. The hardware is great, but it's the OS that makes an Apple what it is. Yeah, compared to a MacBook Pro it's nowhere near as fast and powerful, but for a user like me it negates any reason for buying an Air. Nothing against the Air, but most users don't need one when the Neo so much more affordable. I use the Neo for my writing biz, everything from editing to bookkeeping, and consuming media. I'm not doing heavy video editing, so I have no need for a Pro. Also, I'm neither here nor there about the lack of force touch in the trackpad. I like force touch, but it's not a make-or-break thing for me.

I just purchased a Mac Neo for my granddaughter to take to college next month. I almost didn't get it listening to some YouTubers and commenters on various videos. This will be her 1st Mac, she does have a iPhone. iPad, and watch so she's in the ecosystem. I just wish I brought it before the price increase. I upgraded to the Touch ID and used her student discount. I just hope it will last for her 4 years. I think it will. Your Videos Helped a lot.

Excellent as always!

I just got a Neo this week! I got the 512gb version. In silver it reminds me of my 1st MacBook the 11” MacBook Air. Speaking of that I think I bought the 11 in 2014 for $899usd. So even with the price increase my Neo was $100 less and a dollar went farther in 2014!

Another great review Mark, Thanks 👍 I've got the same MacBook Pro as well, best laptop I've had.🙂

@RWBHere 12 days ago

Thanks Mark. I'll not be buying any new computers until RAM prices drop substantially. The Neo was on my radar until the price hike. There were rumours about a next generation with more RAM. If that happens, it will be an extremely tempting laptop.

@ZenVibes1999 2 months ago

The MacBook Neo is a cute computer even if you don't need it. I ended up using it to take to work. Yes, I have other laptops but it is nice and I like the color. For people who have a million tabs open and run high utilizing tasks, you either need the Air or the pro model.

@AdamKhidir-w7s 2 months ago

I am very impressed with my Neo. It does everything I need it to and runs davinci resolve with no problems. I didn't realise it would make my windows laptop almost redundant. I enjoyed your video thank you.
