I was taught by an Italian artist , Frank Covino ,in the USA, who taught his students a method of LEANARDO dI Vinci ....the underpainting , was in charcoal and ,perfect ,with careful value , realistic, then a VERDACHIO greenish first.... can't spell it all correctly ,but I AM SURE you know what I mean, this under painting , was done with chromium Oxide green , graded in ten values light to darkest , and perfect as one can , and finally the color , done a third time , each color in 10 values , no complimantaries mixing , pure color and mixed with neutral grey also with ten values ,all pre made , so that underpainting and finally colors were ready , before each layer was started. Which makes for clean painting .You can find under franks name some of his painting on YouTube

Thank you for sharing your calm energy when the world is a bit crazy. Let's have more calm, creative voices! ❤

Bless you for having this passion and sharing it with the world. Bringing beauty  into existence is so heavenly.

I don't know what you are struggling with at the moment, but I had to thank you for showcasing your work even through the hardships you currently face.

This is stunning and very helpful as well. I always come back to your videos to really cement into my brain the entire process of creation from start to finish. With apps like Instagram, which showcase short-form videos, its easy to fall into comparison of how long it takes me to complete something versus another artist's work. These videos remind me of the truth: hardwork, dedication and time always pay off.

Thank you again.

This video is priceless especially for self taught artist like me 😁, the small critical tips lies in long video details which is very very important. and don't worry about your language, it is very clear and understood specially by non- English speakers. I much appreciates the effort you put in this video, waiting with interest for the next video👍

I am in awe of this work you accomplished.   Thank you for caring enough to keep going and going.  It was amazing watching the different stages.

Hi Antonis
I love painting along with you with your inspiring, encouraging gentle voice and of course advice. Thank you.

I'm a regular youtube watcher but this is the first 2 hour watch I have ever done, truly inspirational and meditative watch....

Grazie

Gosh so beautiful. The sketch and middle phase- absolutely stunning.

Rarely an artist gives a lesson with this generous elabor, my brother, I wish you success  always. Greetings

Absolutely mesmerizing!  I couldn't stop watching this lesson.  Thank you so much for taking the time to show us

this is amazing, thank you very much for uploading this kind of content

Discovering you has been one of the best things for me in 2023 and look forward to learning from you more in 2025.

Without question the most informative video I have ever seen regarding old masters techniques. Tyvm.

Antonis, I really appreciate that you share your painting processes with us and I have come to admire your skill very much! I always look forward to your new releases! I hope you can overcome the struggles that you're dealing with right now. Be healthy and have a good rest of the year! :-)

Judging from the comments,  we have all fallen under your spell - the melodious voice, the care for and love of what you are sharing, are a balm. Thank you for your knowledgeable guidance. 💐

I'm very glad, that I found your channel and beeing able to see someone still performing this technique. Actually you are the first person I see still working with this particular tempara technique.
It is very interesting for me, because I work a lot with very similar techniques. I studied the work  of Hans von Mareés a lot and wrote a book about his painting technique. In some stages of his work he is using a very similar tempera technique. I reconstructed a big Triptych of Mareés which was lost after 1945 using a very similar technique.
I didn't know Corregio was working in a similar way too. Great work with a lot of deepth! You don't see that often today!

Hi. Your quote about nervous system of ancient masters and contemporaries we are is one of the more valuable i’m hearing around. About fear of following masterpieces there must be no dubt: the real motivation is always a great love for them.

When you spoke about attatchment to your paintings that was so helpful to me ! Now i will take more risks 🎉
