Thanks, Don. That was a very interesting discussion about the OM-5 Mark II. I also own the Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II and have been considering an upgrade for some time. The OM-5 Mark II is definitely on my shortlist. Thanks for the very informative video; it will certainly help me decide on a new camera. Best regards, Lutz.

Fantastic review.  You debunked the plastic complaints with incredible intelligence.  Hopefully OM see"s this as an opportunity to sending you more gear to test

Thank you Don, nice review.  I own an OM-5 Mkii and I can assure everybody that the camera body is tough.  I was wearing my OM-5 around my neck, tripped on some broken concrete and face planted.  My face was banged up and I needed a few days off work.  The OM-5?  Oh, it has a graze on the pentaprism, but that is all. Works just fine.
The OM System pro lenses, yes they are beautiful.

Intelligent and positive discourse by someone that knows their stuff.
Really enjoyable Don
I think OM systems should be donating that camera to you after your glowing review.

For someone like me who is considering buying either the 0m-5 or the om-3, your video is really a breath of fresh air. Finally someone who isn't just passing along their personal biases towards this platform or that. Your plastic explanation is wonderful. Everyone knoss that the pictures that any OM camera produces are really good. That is important too, and price is also. Thanks again! Excellent video, well worth my time.

OM Systems is doing great.  MFT isn't dead.  They need a Pen update.

Minolta X700 was my first camera back in the day!😊

Thanks Don  :)  :)  :)

I would get the black one so that the paint will not rub-off.  If wanting silver, I would go with a metal camera. The OM-5 and OM-5II polycarbonate camera is light, feels good in hand, and water resistant. Metal is cold in hand.  I will say, the Olympus PEN PL-8 and EM 10 do feel more retro in metal.  That old time feel. My OM-5 is that PRO black color, which actually is a retro color for professional cameras back in the day.

Hi Don, aside my fullframe Canon gear, I carefully keep my OM-5 (and 2 OM lenses) to do home-studio light painting using Live Comp, a unique & extraordinary comput. feature you didn't mention, and also for macrophoto, where the unbelievable leightweight and bulk of the OM gear has no equivalent in any brand :))) In both practise, the image quality is top and I print stunning A3+ images :)) Thank you for the video !

Love your videos Don, you would make a great Olympus ambassador.

Thank you, Don. Your insights on camera and lens construction from a repair professional's perspective are always valuable. Having followed your channel for more than two years, I upgraded from an E-PL7 to an E-M5 Mark II early this year and have thoroughly enjoyed using it for family photography. I would highly appreciate a future video analyzing these lenses in low-light and indoor settings, as I am currently considering the 12-45mm F4 for my first Pro lens.

Great review. I feel that today's "plastic" is very advanced, and can handle shock better than a full metal camera. Metal will dent, and plastic has a "give" to it.

The argument about plastic vrs metal. I haven't been to a work site where safety helmets are metal, they are all some form of plastic. It makes sense to use the latest tech in camera production. The earlier models had the problem of the tripod mount braking when using it with a Peak Design capture clip. Fantastic review (thoughts) on the camera and lenses.

Sweet deal!!!

Absolutely brilliant how you explained that plastic is not plastic and that this cover actually has quite some advantages. And that is apart from the weight!

Good review, no nonsense aproach!

I just switched from a well loved Olympus EM5 to the OM System OM5 mk ii and have been really impressed.  The OM5 mk ii feels super solid in hand, no real noticeable difference from the old Mg body EM5, other than the plastic doesn't feel cold to the touch.  Your review is spot on.  It's a great camera.  The OM5 mk ii has a much higher limit than I do as a photographer.  The weak link in the chain for my pictures is always me, not the gear.  I have purchased some used Olympus Pro lenses and they are built like tanks.  You can get some good deals on the lenses used and because of the incredible build quality you don't have to worry about the lenses having issues.  It makes sense to use weather sealed lenses on a weather sealed camera.

Good choice on lenses to test! Good video.

I have the 12-45mm f4 & actually sold the 2.8 to buy it. I'm glad I did it's very good lens & much better fit for me.
