On September 14, 2022, deputies stopped a vehicle after noticing a headlight violation. During the stop, the male passenger admitted he had smoked marijuana about an hour earlier, and deputies detected a strong odor coming from the vehicle.
A records check revealed he had multiple active warrants, including probation violations and a prior drug-related case. Deputies searched the vehicle and discovered large quantities of cocaine, fentanyl, marijuana, and suspected drug-cutting materials. Investigators reportedly recovered enough fentanyl to potentially kill more than 100,000 people.
The passenger was charged with fentanyl trafficking, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, and probation violations. He later entered a no-contest plea and was sentenced to five years in the Florida Department of Corrections. No further information was released about the female driver.
