"Close friend" & it's literally a CHILD??

"I don't care that my husband is a groomer/pedophile, I only care that he cheated on me" is CRAZY

You can't be "in recovery" if you haven't even acknowledged the problem yet.

Her calling the victim one of her close friends makes me feel so weird. How are you such good friends with someone that is young enough to be groomed by your husband? It's so ick

No, Lady, you are not “walking through betrayal”, you are walking through “how do I spiritually bypass the fact that my husband is a pedophile”.
These two things are not the same.

It’s her getting genuinely angry at people calling her groomer husband and groomer

This one. This one here would blame her daughter if her husband was creeping on her.

I'd like to just point out that once again it wasn't a trans person, drag queen, or any minority. It was a youth pastor, and that makes it less bad somehow. Religion in a nutshell right there.

"Cheating is treated like murder." So, I grew up Mormon, and one of the things we were taught was that losing your chastity was a "sin next to murder." Literally. In Mormonism and Evangelicalism, people are taught that sexual sin is heinous and that applies to ALL sexual sin. Having premarital sex is considered just as bad as raping a child. This is on purpose so that church leaders (all men) and men in general in these churches can get away with heinous crimes. Because they've set it up so that being raped is just as sinful as raping someone, so victims are too ashamed and afraid to come forward. When I was a kid, one of my friend's fathers was a registered sex offender. His wife was more upset that he "cheated" on her with a 15 y/o than she was that he abused a 15 y/o. Because to her, both things were equally sinful, but one of them was him breaking his wedding vows.

It's messed up, man. But messed up on purpose so that the men abusing kids can brainwash women into being complicit. (Not that women can't be perpetrators, just that this particular system is set up specifically to make them complicit while the men can freely be perpetrators.)

She said "I" was young when I got married, not "we" were young when we got married...

Did I hear that right? The girl is in High School NOW, and the text messages go back THREE YEARS?!

The cult language is strong with this one. “Walking through” “season”, it’s all Christian cultist in-language

He is in recovery from grooming a child... what?

A youth pastor being outed as a predator?! What a totally uncommon and definitely not predictable outcome!

A youth pastor + a NDA = 🚩🚩🚩 🚨🚨🚨 😮😮😮 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

For the last thirty years of my life every time someone has been in the news for grooming or assaulting a child or abusing women and children it is 99% of the time a fucking conservative, religious leaders, youth pastor, coach, cop etc. Every fucking time. So many, many many stories about church officials hiding evidence of abuser or advising families to just let it go because of "forgiveness", it's just absurd. These people hide behind religion and the moment they get called out for very real crimes against children in most cases they cry religious persecution and that can no longer be allowed to continue.

"Predators don't just groom their victims, they groom their defenders." I wish I hadn't seen this before. I lost a bunch of friends because one of them turned out to be a groomer who targeted her 14yo neighbor for 6 months. When she was finally caught and arrested I was the only one who acted like the situation was as serious as it was. I watched multiple people I had genuinely believed up until then were intelligent, empathetic, sensible human beings react as though she just cheated. It was genuinely one of the most disgusting and disheartening experiences of my life.

But predators depend on this. They build emotional connections because they know someday when they inevitably get caught a certain percentage will fail the moral test and for various selfish reasons, rationalize what the criminal has done. Turn it from the irredeemably monstrous act it actually is into eh, just an infidelity.

Don't trust those people, don't associate with them. No good will ever come of it.

I told my abuser that I wish I could stay with him. Wanna know why its was still CSA? Because I was fucking 6 and he was 19. Groomed victims will want to be with their abuser that’s part of the grooming. It’s the job of the god damn adults in that child life to protect them whether the child likes it our not

Wait, the attorney let her act as a paralegal? In a case where she's a defendant? That seems really strange. Also, why is she hanging out with high school students as a grown married woman?

The church is SO BAD for not reporting this. They have an obligation. I work as a singer for some churches and even though I don’t work with kids and I’m only there like 2 hours a week, but I still get regular background checks and yearly training about abuse. I am a mandated reporter even as a super part time employee. If I was told about this situation I would be obligated to report it.
