This was amazing,  I love the way you speak on it and compare to mythology sources.  High on misery?  It can mean a lot of different things for different people.  With Ronnie?  In the first one, he had been sent to prison for a while for having brass knuckles at a fight where someone was shot and didn't show up for a parole meeting (if I'm wrong, sorry, just correct me) so he was using the court room and looking into a self reflection of toxicity and having to deal with it...high on misery.  In the reimagined version, Ronnie had given up drugs during prison, new members of the band (drummers were different) but many still condem him, so he's high on misery but moving forward.  That's just my thoughts.

I'm Not A Vampire then the revamped version

"We get it Ronnie, you can Music." - Rykerroad reactors.

I have watched so many reactors to Ronnie's music like vocal coaches, music producers, videographers etc... I love the fact that you are actually analyzing the lyrics from a psychological perspective and have learned a bunch of new stuff from you.  Thank you sir please continue to "cook".

High on misery? Sometimes, you've spent so much time in a dark place that standing in the light is scary. So if you're "high on misery", at this point you're comfortable there. You may even learn to strive in the dark because now you're strong enough to withstand it.

“The drug in me is you” he wrote this in prison staring at himself in the mirror.

I think "To be high on misery." Is being so used to feeling emotional pain, that it gets cathartic to start betting on it. Where you start looking for it, like a addict for a drug to cope. Where you don't want to risk even feeling better. At least trying to find the misery beforr it finds you feel like you have some semblance of control. Also, when misery is something you are already used to. It ironically can be one of the things you feel like you can depend on. A dependancy to misery. One that can be immersive. Like the people always angry online. They cannot get enough.
Then down the road, in the haze of it all, you start feeling like you cannot remember how not to be miserable.

My interpretation of "high on misery".  I have quiet borderline personality disorder, pretty much meaning all my feelings of inadequacy and self worth are always in my head, not to mention depression.  In simple terms, this means I bully myself with conscious thoughts and the depression can come and go like a light switch with no trigger.  I can be having a great day, wake up early, go out with friends and have a fulfilling day and still be borderline suicidal with my depression and negative thoughts and feelings.  I have had misery for over 10 years, I've accepted it as part of me, I'm living the high of my misery.

My take on these songs... The first one being so upbeat portrays the early fun party phase of addiction. The reimagined version is the dark reality of addiction.

The Reimagined version really sells the quiet internal battle of someone barely holding on to control, the battle that you never see until it finally explodes over at the end. You'll see the ashes of the aftermath but not the signs and suffering that led to it.

Hey, Sound Engineer here

To my ear, there has been a lot of sounds added post production. I listened hard, and noticed a few things

For instance, the notes that you mentioned around the 11:20 minute mark, theres a pad sound that stays in a sustained note that haunts the track in a beautiful way 🙏🏻

It’s a trick used by Producers to enhance the elements to improve the production.

Overall, the notes and chords used in this piece… absolutely beautiful!

The root key is D-Minor, which is a powerful emotional key which is inline with the key of F which also shows strong emotion!

“Major Scale” is a great way to show happiness and joy.

“Minor Scale” is a darker and in your words showing “melancholy” or Sadness.

There are many other scales that bring out different emotions, and can move people in different ways… however those are the 2 scales that most people know 🙏🏻

Very powerful song! I throughly enjoy Falling in Reverse, Ronnie is an amazing artist and their producer always amazes me with what he does to bring his ideas to life 🙏🏻😊

Great reaction, Hope this helps ❤

Goosebumps or nah? The last few "can't you see" cripples me every time. The wall of music and screaming 🥵🥵

No shot! This is such a great revision of the song. I'm not a vampire next?

"high on misery" for me has 2 meanings. 1 is your basic codependency  which would involve yourself and someone else; staying in a place that's not good because you're just accustomed to it and have forgotten that there's a way out. 2 is addiction which would be with oneself - probably the meaning in this song; the continuous battle with yourself to make choices, even after you know something is harmful and destroying to you, it keeps wanting to suck you back in.

Best point of misery is fighting for something with everything you have and never getting what you fight for and failing !

In the reimagined version: have you ever heard anyone sing the word F🤬cking so beautifully??😂

Ohhh yeah, I'm not a vampire next 🙏 please!!! 😊🤘

BRUH I’m only 1:30 sec into the video and just your explanation of those first few bars was perfect. Hadn’t really thought about it that way really, even though I’ve heard the song a lot before lol ❤

Being high on misery
is trying to hold on to the memory of (the only people) you've loved
and lost.

It's poison in your veins,
but under the everything trying to erase your existence,
it's the only thing that brings you a feeling of happiness and...
love.

It also brings the sharp consequences of feeling
"that" (having love)
will ever happen again.
I pray that my feet don't fail me now
from running from that urge,
despite my absolute isolation from anything that resembles humanity.

Only from absolute darkness can we fully appreciate the smallest bit of light. High on misery is what depression delivers, no joy just empty days/daze and happy things bring tears. Acceptance of no self esteem. Drug in me is you, high on misery - love can be pain if (like an addict) you can not quit.
