That Brolin goal was incredible. Such a shame he got that serious injury in '94.

One of Brolin's best goal in his career!

I was flying British Airways from L.A to Heathrow for a stopover, during the match, heading back to Sweden. Back then, beers were free, and you could smoke in the back. Anyways, I made a bet with the male attendant, if Sweden wins, me and my seat mates would get free scotch the rest of the way. Once we got into British ATC, they relayed the result to the crew. I will never forget the attendant shouting, ”you know what!, Sweden won 2-1!” One of the greatest moments in my life.

This Swedish team never had dissolved in a period between early 1988 and late 1994. As begun in wc 90 and continued to be Europeans runner-up at home two years later and still conquered the world ending 3rd in wc 94 again two years later. Persistence and consistency.

Wow. These goals were all exquisite. Wonderful play by the Swedes, especially for the second goal.

England did well in the first half. Daley and Lineker missed chances. Totally outplayed in the second half when Limpar was subed off and Sweden played with four front runners.

This championship was a proof that Sweden had a team to be recon with. 2 years later it came third in the World Championships in the US! Very glad for Denmark though!

Everytime Sweden has had a great team, it concedes with Sweden also have a chart topping pop band. In the 70's Sweden qualified for every World Cup & were a formidable team in 1974. ABBA was topping charts in the 70's. In the 1990's when Ace of Base & Roxette were dominant, Sweden were in the semis of the Euros & WCs. Sweden hasn't been the same since the 90's, Sweden also hasn't had a globally famous pop group since the 90's.

Martin Tyler is one of the last of the great old school commutators. Love how he calls this. Just a shame has the link to Sky and all. Classic final goal from Brolin. Pure football.

Brolin reminds of of Peter Forsberg; a Swede who, at his prime, was one of the best players in the world, but sadly had a bit of a tainted career due to injuries. I remember some Parma games where Brolin literally won the game single-handedly.
