Fun fact: Patrick and C. Thomas Howell were in THREE movies together. I saw an interview Tommy did for a book called Staying Gold, where he said Patrick had pulled him aside, I think as they were casting Red Dawn, and told him this would be their last movie together, so they wouldn't let Hollywood ruin their friendship. They stayed true to his word and were the best of friends until Patrick passed in 2009. He and Rob Lowe have since kept his memories alive. It was great to see that those three had such an incredible relationship on and off screen.

This is one of the most faithful adaptations of a novel to film. Excellence all around.

This has got to be the best edit of a reaction to this movie I've seen. I grew up on this movie, the books... There was so much that I had forgotten about... Thank you for doing justice to a classic. 🤘

They were called the brat pack like the rat pack from back in the day. And this is such an underrated movie. Loved it, cried for hours after the ending.

Johnny is 100% justifies using his blade. Self-defense includes the defense of others. Outnumbered, assaulted, with reason to believe they might be killing Ponyboy. That’s a slam-dunk. If anything they should have sued the other boys’ families in civil court for the whole deal.

The ONLY actor who was famous in this movie when it came out was Matt Dillon. He was a famous young actor in the 70s/early 80s and by the late 80s, had almost disappeared, but had a big resurgence in the late 90s. This is a cast of (all but Matt Dillon) unknown actors many in their first or second film of their careers. Fast forward 5 years later and this is one of the most stacked casts in movie history. The total budget for The Outsiders is a cheap $10 million. 5 years later and every unknown actor would command much more individually.

If I remember correctly, Tom needed that tooth job because of this movie. The nurse with Dallas when Pony and Two Bit come in is S.E. Hinton.

This film was filmed in my hometown. Ponyboys house is now a museum and they do tours of the locations they filmed at. The train tracks run right by the house and you can hear the train horn just like the movie. One of my favorite movies ever

This channel's resident Bradley Cooper is also the most emotionally invested and unguarded viewer. This is why we who grew up on the classics watch first time reactions, to relive the genuine thrill of seeing something great for the first time.✌🏻

I read the book when I was in Jr. High. When I finished it, I went on a loooong walk.

The first book I bought myself when the book fair came to my school.

Ralph Macchio was 21 in this movie. He was the second oldest to Patrick Swayze which is crazy cause he looks the youngest. This was a year before karate kid and he must’ve grown a foot cause he’s all tall and lanky in karate kid and he’s the shortest of the group here

When Dally falls off the chair at the drive in that was not scripted. He really fell. You can see C Thomas Howell look directly at the camera when he laughs 😂

Thank you for your awesome reaction to this movie! I think you are the only person I have seen that actually understands the characters. Your level of perception is excellent! I saw this in the theatre when it came out in 83 and read the book in the 70's when it came out. My life growing up was similar to Johnny's and my six siblings so I understand him, as well as Pony, and Dally. If you got a chance to see The Outsiders a New Musical on Broadway I'm glad. It was absolutely phenomenal. "whomst is outside? something about gold and horses?"!! The song "Stay Gold" from that musical and all the other songs are phenomenal as well!! Sky Lakota-Lynch played Johnny, and Brody Grant played Ponyboy. It was absolutely the best!! KUDOS to Susan E. Hinton for being brave enough to write about these types of issues at such a young age!!

You are only the second person I found on YouTube who has done a reaction to the complete novel. Much props ❤️

The nurse that Dallas threw out of his hospital room was also the author of the book 📖 😊.

Tim on the couch when Ponyboy wakes up was because the Curtis house had an oper door policy for any of their friend to come and crash if they need to. In the book, Two-Bit is their most frequent friend who takes them up on it.
This version of the movie is the director's cut which added deleted scenes and music which is why the tone of the music sometimes clashes with what is going on on the screen.
