A fellow Kruppe enjoyer!  The scattershot way of talking about the books is very representative of the reading experience also very enjoyable to listen to.  You're excitement at the wonder of it all is EXACTLY what I was feeling like while reading.  I feel like if you love Gardens of the Moon then there's a 99% chance you will love the rest of the series.  Looking forward to the future updates!

Don't mind me ignoring the spoiler warnings, I just can't stop listening to you okay 😂❤
Very happy to hear how excited you are about this series!! I am very curious to see how I will feel about Kruppe when I meet him, I feel like he's a notorious character in the series, I recognize his name 😂
Happy reading!! ❤

Loving your thoughts on Gardens of the Moon!! You're making so many great observations as you read, and your excitement is infectious! The fact you must talk about the book in a full-length video before finishing bodes well!! 😁❤

“It doesn’t just stab, let’s put it that way” might be my favorite description of Anomander’s sword 😂. Glad you are enjoying GotM.

Glad you're enjoying it! We told you its not that intimidating if you just go with the flow :)

Hopefully this helps (none of these are spoilers):
Think of the Tiste Andi as this world's version of Dark Elves.

T'lan Imass are their own race, but do have clan structures. They're basically undead neanderthals. T'ool is one of my favourite characters in the series!

Kruppe is indeed hilarious, he's one of Erikson's favourite characters for a reason. Keep an eye on him! He's really grown on me overtime.

Jaghuts are a fascinating race, and you'll learn more about them.

Great Malazan talks so far. New to your channel and the vibes are great. Gorgeous home BTW

Your excitement and enjoyment of reading the book is infectious. So glad you are enjoying it. When you get to Deadhouse Gates though, you will have to leave all the fun behind, as that book has a totally different feel, setting and plot. It will be much darker, gloomier, more character driven, and slower paced, but its absolutely a better book. You just have to treat it as a fresh start with different expectations from the book.

Anomander Rake is not half Tiste Andii, he is fully Tiste Andii, and their leader, also known as first son of Mother Dark.
Bellurdan tried to kill Tattersail because he thought those were his orders from Tayschrenn. Either take Tattersail back to Pale, or stop her by any means, including killing her, if required. He didn't like it, but was still just following orders.

How did you like the dinner scene overall with Tattersail, Lorn, Tayschrenn, Dujek and Toc? That was one of the best character moments in the book.

Great video Ashleigh! I struggled with this book the first time I read it. I ended up loving it on a reread, but then Deadhouse Gates ripped away my enjoyment lol. I will probably continue. Probably. Maybe. Remotely likely. 😂

Ah, Malazan. Being the very first I read, this series ruined adult fantasy for me. Only ASOIAF has come close to the highs and lows Malazan gave me.

I'm interested in your Malazan journey and will be on for the ride. Spoilers😜: There'll be lots and lots of grief and absolute chaos ahead. You have been warned. 🍿

Interesting info: Erikson said he'd begun GOTM in Anomander Rake's POV, but he abandoned it after a couple of chapters because he couldn't possibly imagine the thought process of a being hundreds of thousands of years old. It got him into a kind of writing slump, then he started all over again.

Also,if GOTM reads like a script, that's because it was meant to, originally. There's more on that on his website. 😅

PS: Ganoes Paran was my least favourite character in GOTM. At the end of the series, if you gave me a sword, I would kill and die for him.

I cant tell if your enjoying it or not hahahahaha

Over committed yourself? I've bought the first 9 Broken Binding editions without reading a single Malazan book yet!
(I... really wanted hardcovers)
