Awesome! I still have my first bicycle. It is still in fairly good condition. My father bought it for me. A brand new Raleigh rodeo 5 speed in blue in 1972. Of course I replaced numerous sets of tires and the banana seat because back then we wore them out. I will have to fill the tires. Thanks for the inspiration!
I used a kirbebike kit to convert a bmx to electric. Great kit for a great price. I had to use a wheel motor kit cos the bottom bracket is much bigger on a bmx but worked well. 👍My Raleigh Chopper has a mid drive on it.
Mercier - a fantastic brand that I haven't seen for decades. A delivery rider showed me a tag that had been attached to his bicycle by the Police that indicated his bicycle had been checked by them and was legal
I did a similar thing to a 90's MTB; Overall very pleased with the result but it really makes a big difference to the weight. I went for a Tongshen mid drive and it's been faultless if a little noisy. It meant I lost the treble chain ring but I can always turn up the power on the hills. Running mostly on the lowest setting I can get over 100 miles on a charge. One thing I'd like would be disc brakes. The V brakes stop really well but I have to change pads more frequently. My pedal had stripped threads and even heat didn't help. I ended up showing it the grinder. Fitting was easy but hiding the excess wire neatly was a challenge. I think throttles on ebikes may be illegal.
I know a few people that are riding throttle bikes because of their health and breaking the law. What madness. Again law abides suffer at hands of irresponsible. I’ve watched Kirkby e bike conversion for years. He’s a clever guy much like urself
The Genie is out of the bottle now with Ebikes, there a really handy way to get from a to b, I've been riding Ebikes for years now, I do think the current regulations are out of date, be nice to have at least class two regulated bikes, that's 500w motor's with a 20mph limit and the allowance for a throttle.
Martin you should have let us know what you were going to do , I could have donated an unwanted mountain bike for the job and you could have saved your old racer for another recomisioning video.
