Kane Parsons's Backrooms movie, originally inspired by a creepypasta, is making waves in both the horror community and outside of it, but many people aren't aware that The Backrooms Movie has an extensive webseries you can find on Kane's YouTube channel: Kane Pixels. The series is 22 videos long, all presented in a Found Footage style, similar to an ARG. Today, we are going to analyze every video exploring these liminal spaces, explaining the lore of Async and the Complex, and dive into all types of deep rabbit holes like Ivan Beck, Michael Greer, the lifeforms, the still lifes, Out of Sync, and solar flares.

EDIT: This was in the original ending for the video, which I cut, but should have 100% been included: I think the TV segment from Autopsy Report is actually the Complex trying to communicate with Ivan when First Contact is made. Cause again, we can presumably hear an earthquake so we can assume this takes place during First Contact, and if it does it plays a ton of imagery from stuff that hasn't happened yet. It also has a ton of imagery of things we've come to know him for, like sailing and sunsets over bodies of water. This could be the Complex trying to warn him, or turn him away, but of course he doesn't listen. Absolutely, 100% should've left it in the video or moved it to the Ivan Beck section. It may be in the video and I forgot LOL but I just wanted to make sure people know about this observation I made.

EDIT EDIT: Someone pointed out that they were getting an absurd amount of ads. I went and checked, and YouTube had automatically placed an ad in the video every 2-3 minutes - which is ridiculous. I went through and changed it to play 1 ad every 10-15 minutes, so the viewing experience should hopefully be a lot better. I've also placed them inbetween segment swaps so they shouldn't play during a section. Keep me in the loop if that's still too much!

After 3 months of religiously researching, having my opinion and thoughts changed again and again as I feel like I've gone insane: the Backrooms video, my biggest labor love so far, is here. This video was actually done way back in March, but the moment I found out that the events of Overflow were a solar flare; I started to look deeper, and found out so much more about the series than I ever could have imagined. I know that I've been lapped in upload time by both Wendigoon and Film Theory, but still I felt I had so much to say that I wanted to share this video with you all.

What do you guys think? Do you agree with me, are there things you noticed that I didn't, let me know! I'm excited to see what you all think about this video.

Can we just take a second to appreciate the fact that, for those that have followed the Backrooms since its inception and even those that discovered it down the road, we finally got a full fledged movie and what feels like the begining of a trilogy.

People not realizing the movie is based on Kane's series, and that his series is his own take on the backrooms, not part of the wiki stuff, is so annoying cause all they talk about is "where is level 746 with the Jeremy's left ballsack entity" and they hate on the movie for that

What's worse is the people who do realise this and complain anyway like their some purist and not a complete chud.

I hate that people are hating the movie cause i thought it was so cool, like it was so weirdly mind fckt but thats whats cool about the backrooms, am so excited for the sequal.

lowkey peter becoming schizophrenic makes me think that the therapist from the A24 backrooms mom wasn’t crazy after all and that she had access to the backrooms.

I don’t know if anyone else in the comments already has mentioned it but the first scene in Found footage #1 is real footage filmed by Kane and his friends. He talked about it in an interview how he asked them to film a thing so they helped. So they started filming and then randomly Kane dropped the kamera down to the ground and his friends asked why he did it. He said ”you’ll see soon” or something like that and then some time later he dropped the video😂

Even if it’s cannon apparently you don’t need to know anything about the lore to enjoy the movie. It’s a standard 3 act structured film that you can enjoy without going down the backrooms rabbit hole which I think is VERY smart.

I wonder if the coughing isn't from the air itself being toxic or riddled with bacteria, but moreso from the endemic bacteria already within the researcher's human bodies getting warped and shifted when they go further into the spacially distorted Complex. Maybe there's no singular strain of bacteria that's infecting the space, but rather, the space itself warps your body on a microscopic level and gradually displaces your microbiomes. You probably die of thirst/hunger long before that, but the bacteria still try to react to whatever is manifesting the backrooms and find life?

This video is now THE gold standard for theory videos in my opinion. So many details and things almost nobody else mentions, and I hope many more people get to watch it and see how deep it actually goes.

As for your Autopsy Report TV segment theory, the movie convinced me that you are actually right about this. We now know that the Complex can leak into Standard, manipulating electronic devices like lights and, you guessed it, TVs. Then there's the symbolism of things being mirrored: We can see that the video footage of the damaged threshold in First Contact is flipped. Is it a warning? Or someone — his lost half "born" during Overflow — calling out to him? A small sound before the TV footage plays can also be heard, which also appears at the end of the credits of the movie; a (relatively) recent upload on Kane's music channel, Special Access Light Spectrum, also has the same sound at the end, which leads me to believe that we might find out what this whole thing is about sooner than we'd expect. Like seriously, take a listen, there must be a recording of the Credits somewhere on YouTube.
Small Edit here: When opening the Threshold for the first time, the researchers note that "there is an obstruction", before someone urges them to keep going. That electronical interference from the Complex trying to warn them through the TV and even telephone might be that obstruction.

As for the Michael Greer Theory: This being Ivan's original name wouldn't make much sense considering the time and area he was born in. In 1931, Karlovy Vary was predominantly German speaking, and Beck is such a basic German surname. What might be more plausible, however, is that Michael Greer is either: A) a mole planted by the DOE who is responsible for the eventual Document Purge that is hinted at or B) an alias Ivan Beck has created, with HIM being actually the one to purge all the recordings and documents after finding out the truth about himself and the Complex. Why I think that "Michael Greer" is connected to the Document Purge is that the song with the same title uses an image of the same server room that "Michael Greer was never here" uses.

Other than that, great video. Might force my friends to watch it with me someday.

I feel like the Backrooms is something akin to an Eldritch being. It has always existed and has always been connected with our memory and with the physical world. But Async simply found a way to make it manifest physically, which is why the architecture is particularly 90s to 2000s, because that was the time it was made manifest physically. This is also based on the soundtrack titled "and the Word became flesh."

I feel like Null Zones have always existed, but because of Async it has now become physically present in our world, which is why it is present in random places.
