Abu Taymiyyah is opposing this verse: ❝...Had they, after having wronged themselves, come to you and sought forgiveness from Allah, and had the Messenger prayed for their forgiveness, they would certainly have found Allah Most-Relenting, Very-Merciful.❞ (Quran 4:64)

Theres plenty of narrations which highlight Prophet ‎ﷺ hears near the grave, in fact even non prophets can hear certain things. Hence this verse would still be applicable whether the Prophets are alive or passed away.

Prophet ‎ﷺ said: None of you greet me with peace but that Allah returns my spirit, that I may return his greeting of peace.”

Sunan Abī Dāwūd 2041 - Sahih

There is a lot of ignorance unfortunately amongst many Muslims with regards to the vastness of their tradition so people would agree with Abu Taymiyah.

The hadith from imam malik is not authentic

Bukhari Hadith 1474 explicitly state that whole mankind on day of judgment go and plead for help to Adam a.s and then to Mousa a.s and Finally to Prophet peace be upon him and He will be the one intercede . But what’s important here the word used is Istighasu be adam,,, they will do Istighasa to Adam and Mousa a.s and Muhammad alaihi salato wassalam .  So will ALLAH allow Istighasa on day of judgement??? Will people do shirk in front of ALLAH??? If Istighasa is shirk now it must be shirk on day of judgement too. Because Day of judgement is not to permit Shirk but actually to hold people who committed shirk accountable . Below is the Matan of Hadith


Narrated `Abdullah bin `Umar:
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "A man keeps on asking others for something till he comes on the Day of Resurrection without any piece of flesh on his face." The Prophet (ﷺ) added, "On the Day of Resurrection, the Sun will come near (to, the people) to such an extent that the sweat will reach up to the middle of the ears, so, when all the people are in that state, they will ask Adam for help, and then Moses, and then Muhammad (p.b.u.h) ." The sub-narrator added "Muhammad will intercede with Allah to judge amongst the people. He will proceed on till he will hold the ring of the door (of Paradise) and then Allah will exalt him to Maqam Mahmud (the privilege of intercession, etc.). And all the people of the gathering will send their praises to Allah.
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ حَمْزَةَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ قَالَ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏"‏ مَا يَزَالُ الرَّجُلُ يَسْأَلُ النَّاسَ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ لَيْسَ فِي وَجْهِهِ مُزْعَةُ لَحْمٍ ‏"‏‏.‏ وَقَالَ إِنَّ الشَّمْسَ تَدْنُو يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ حَتَّى يَبْلُغَ الْعَرَقُ نِصْفَ الأُذُنِ، فَبَيْنَا هُمْ كَذَلِكَ اسْتَغَاثُوا بِآدَمَ، ثُمَّ بِمُوسَى، ثُمَّ بِمُحَمَّدٍ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏"‏‏.‏ وَزَادَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي اللَّيْثُ حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ‏"‏ فَيَشْفَعُ لِيُقْضَى بَيْنَ الْخَلْقِ، فَيَمْشِي حَتَّى يَأْخُذَ بِحَلْقَةِ الْبَابِ، فَيَوْمَئِذٍ يَبْعَثُهُ اللَّهُ مَقَامًا مَحْمُودًا، يَحْمَدُهُ أَهْلُ الْجَمْعِ كُلُّهُمْ ‏"‏‏.‏ وَقَالَ مُعَلًّى حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ، عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ رَاشِدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ، أَخِي الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ حَمْزَةَ، سَمِعَ ابْنَ عُمَرَ ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فِي الْمَسْأَلَةِ‏.‏

Wahabis have little intelligence he abu taymiyya follow people who says Allah is sitting in person on his throne and bin baz says bilal committed an act of kufr because he made tawasul at the grave of the prophet

I'm a Sunni Muslim from Pakistan and I agree with Abu Taymiyyah. Praying to Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and asking him for intercession when he is no longer is this world is definitely Shirk. Asking the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) to intercede on their behalf when he was alive is different to doing the same when he is not in this world. Pray only to Allah and do not ask someone to intercede on your behalf. Shias do the same with Hazrat Ali (RA) and that is Shirk as well. Asking someone to make dua for them is no issue. And Allah knows best.

Abu Taymiyah is correct if they are praying to Rasulullah and believe that Rasulullah alone can remove their problems or grant them what they ask.

He cannot assume that is the case.  

That is exactly where he is wrong.

He assumes that a Muslim with the Aqeeda of Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaa'ah, will ask of other than Allah.

The correct understanding of what the Pakistani man is doing is that he is using the place of the grave, the essence of the Rasul and his rank with Allah as intercession for his needs.

This is narrated in a Sahih Hadith of the blind man.  Rasulullah taught the blind man how to make Tawassul and Istighatha in one go, to ask ALLAH by Muhammad for his needs to be fulfilled.

Hence, using the grave of Rasulullah, asking Rasulullah while he is in his grave to ask Allah or asking Allah by Rasulullah, his rank etc to answer his Dua, then according to Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaa'ah have agreed this is permissable.

Abu Taymiyah and his ilk are the innovators because they have made haraam what Allah and His Rasul have made Halaal.  They also use the Ayaat meant for Mushrikeen and apply it to Muslims.  These are of the biggest bid'ah sayyi'ah in history and it goes against the ijmaa of the Ulama.

Do you need wasila to ask Allah ?

May Allah bless you Sh Haroun for refuting these deviant Wahabis that have misguided the Muslims with the help of Kuffar.

May ‎الله guide you. If anyone dies upon shirk, Jahannam is his abode. Don’t make du’a too rasool’Lallah ﷺ Or anyone else other than ‎الله.

May ‎الله guide Us to the sunnah of the prophet ﷺ and the rightly guided khulafah ar’rashidin.

Salfiyaa is not new. May ‎الله expose your lies and guide you. Don’t listen to the lies of this man if you care about your religion.

I came from umrah a week ago and these grave worshippers were doing exactly what abu taymiyyah was saying. Praying and making dua to the grave of the prophet ﷺ when they should be facing the qubla when praying and making dua. Be very careful with people like these because they act all nice and sweet but are plotting to deviate innocent Muslims specially the young ones

Abu Taymiyyah is right. Also, this view isn’t 200 years old, many scholars like Ibn Taymiyyah, Ibn Al-Qayyim, Al-Maqrizi, and others mention it’s Shirk. And the stories you mentioned are weak.
