I have a whole drawer full of presser feet and no idea how to use most of them!! A video series would be really useful in covering how and when to use these. Thank you for making straight to the point videos without annoying music, especially while you're talking. It's much appreciated xx

If you find the toothpick too big (leaves too much gap under the button,) try using a spare sewing machine needle.

I use blind stitch foot a lot for hemming and edging.

I really need to thank you, Sarai, for this video. This evening is the first-time that I try the Edge-stitch/Ditch-stich presserfeets and they are so AWESOME! The neatest top-stiches soo easy! Here in Sweden they are mostly promoted as a quilting accessory, and me not being a quilter have never thought of them. But so useful for sewing clothes. It's truly a revelation for me! 😅 So very much appreciated to have these genius shortcuts to impeccable sewing introduced to the community ❤

The standard foot that came with Mom's vintage Singer (1958) is made with standard (Imperial) measurements built in -- like those wonderful little sewing gauges are, that few people seem to know about. The needle can also be repositioned to 1/8 inch to the left or right of the standard position, using the standard throat plate. Both throat plates plates have 3, 4, 5 and 6/8 inch lines in it. The box of accessories had five other feet in it. This wonderful machine is now mine.

I have a Husqvarna Viking. I have a whole collection of feet. Each of them came with a leaflet showing its purpose. As a general suggestion: check the accessories or feet catalogue of your brand. They have a description of the feet, part numbers, and model compatibility. I have several feet with a bar. 3 with a bar in the middle. They serve different purposes. One clue is to watch where the needle goes down in relation to the bar. Another one is to check the size of the hole of the foot the needle goes through to sew: straight stitch only or zigzag.
Some feet, though specified for one purpose are actually multifunctional.

Instead of using pins to hold the zipper in place, I use Wonder tape. Some tutorials say to press the coils and others don’t.

I have an older machine that doesn't have a button foot. Your idea to use a zigzag stitch with a toothpick between the button holes is genius. I have the exact project to use it on, once I practice on something nit as important. Thank you.
