Loved Thor and Captain America was awesome too! Can't wait for you to see it :)

Odin is so powerful that every once in a while, he needs to recharge. The recharging process is called the “Odin Sleep”. It’s been so long since Odin recharged, combined with the stress of telling Loki that he’s really a frost giant that it pushed him into the Odin Sleep.

My favourite scene in this film is the one between Odin and Loki where Loki learns the truth. Not only because it's so intense and well-acted, but also for the amount of character-work it does for Loki in a relatively short amount of space. Here's what I pick up on when watching it now:

1) Loki instantly sees through Odin's lie about taking Loki because he was an innocent child, and Odin admits the truth, that it was for political purposes. Loki knows the man who raised him, knows he isn't altruistic like that, and does things for a *purpose*".
2) "So I am no more than another stolen relic"; the choice of word here, stolen, also suggests that Loki is aware of the less glorious truth of how Odin and Asgard behaves. It's not rightly earned trophies, but stolen relics of conquered and defeated peoples.

3) "Because I'm the monster that parents tell their children about at night?". We see Odin talk about his defeat of the Frost Giants, and see young Thor proclaim that he will "hunt the monsters down and slay they all". Thor has just eagerly killed Frost Giants when he went looking for a fight. This is how Loki is raised to see Frost Giants, and now he learns he is one himself - a monster to be slain by heroes like Thor.

And my favourite part of that scene
4) "You know it all makes sense now, why you favoured Thor all these years"
It's such a wonderful sentence, because we learn that Loki has felt that Thor was favoured for a long while, but also that he could never figure out why and has wondered about that, and now he thinks he knows why - because he was never Odin's son at all, but a Frost Giant foundling. It was never about that sort of son or prince he was, or Thor was, never about anything they chose to be. It was always outside of Loki's control, equality to Thor always unobtainable. And this information serves as motivation for Loki for the rest of the movie. How can he possibly prove to Odin that he is his son, and a worthy son, someone who is loyal to Asgard? By slaying his birth-father, Odin's enemy, in front of Odin when he could have sided with Laufey. Ultimate proof of loyalty. And then destroy Jotunheim, to show his complete loyalty to Asgard. And maybe as an expression of the self-loathing he must feel at being a Frost Giant. He can't destroy that part of himself, but he can destroy them for good.
Kinslaying and genocide, all to finally have Odin's love.

5) "No matter how much you claim to love me". Claim to love - Loki doesn't believe in Odin's love, even if Odin has expressed it before. It hasn't felt genuine enough to Loki it seems, maybe in comparison to what he has seen Thor receive. Something has been wrong in this father-son relationship for a long time it seems, so deeply that Loki doesn't even trust his father's love.

I can't believe they managed to pack so much information into such a short scene! Kudos to the writers for that.

The reason that Loki destroys Jotunheim is because he himself hates the fact that he's a frost giant, and he tries to prove to himself and to everyone to be an asgardian and deny his true origin as a frost giant by killing Laufy, his original father, and destroying Jotunheim, his original home planet. This makes the conversation at the end with Odin (I could have done it! for you! no, Loki.) make much more  sense. Basically Loki just wants to fit in... just in the wrong way. Also, Thor's growth is fascinating. His life on Earth taught him to love life, and later saves the very people(frostgiants) he himself tried to destroy earlier in the film.

Really think this movie is underrated. Like you said, it’s not really “super hero” it feels more “mythology” which I really appreciate. It feels so fresh. Obsessed 😍

so funny to see that seb has no idea who's the guy with the arrow. dont tell him, it will eventually unfold.

"Heimdall is a bouncer." I never thought I would ever hear that. Lol.

"I declare you...   Frost giants!"
Seb laughed!  He's Loki!  Confirmed!

Love Anthony Hopkins as Odin. The metal thing is called the Destroyer btw.

Loki has always been my favorite MCU character, from the first time I saw this movie. My favorite scene had to be when Loki kills Laufey, because that is when most people realize that Loki isn't good, he isn't evil, he's complicated. :-)

Thor is a bit underrated I'd say. Though, I'm excited for Captain America. Great movie.

no, he's not worthy because of that, he's worthy because he sacrificed himself to save the people of the town and yes he was technically "mortal" and almost died with that punch....
also Odin's machine is called The Destroyer...

This is a really stupid and maybe obvious observation, but I just realized that Thor being run into by the Guardians ship in Infinity War was totally a callback to him getting hit by the van in this movie.

"How did they know Thor was there?" Well, probably because Heimdall can see all of the nine realms without being there. Therefore, he conceivably opened the bifrost at a certain location that would send them right by where Thor was because Heimdall could obviously see Thor from that distance.

This film is so cheesy and i completely love it 😂 also it's fun seeing baby Tom Hiddleston whilst currently watching the Loki series. He's very good!

The guy who played Lockheart in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets actually directed this film!

Seb: I am 100% absolutely sure Loki is not dead.
Loki shows up alive after the credits.
Seb: I CAN'T POSSIBLY BELIEVE THIS
xD

“This mortal form has grown weak. I need….. manflesh.”

Loki's character development throughout mcu is my favorite thing ever! I am excited to hear your thoughts on his future 'adventures' :D

No one realises that after Odin added the curse to the hammer he held the hammer, which meant Odin was worthy.
