This channel has mastered the balance of science and storytelling. Doesn’t bore you with the meteorology but doesn’t skimp on it when it’s important.

For those wondering what happened to little Maddie, she gave an interview last June for the 15th anniversary of this tragedy. Apparently she has no memory of the tornado hitting her house, whether because of being knocked unconscious or psychological trauma she doesn't know. She was adopted by her aunt and uncle and was raised alongside her cousins as siblings. She appears to be happy and is doing well!

Mr. Welling was 21 when his plane was shot down during WWII over Bremen, Germany on May 28, 1944. He spent almost a year in Stalag Luft IV POW camp in what is now Poland, and was a participant of the POW march from that camp as the Soviet army approached. Very sad that he passed on in this manner.

Highschool graduations and tornadoes, name a better duo

I couldn’t imagine what that little girl had to go through after losing her parents and brother… absolutely heartbreaking.

the immediate clicking on this video and immediate clicking the like button before the video even starts just proves that i know this is gonna be a very good video once again

Remember that night well. My friend lost her home right outside of Clay Center that night. They found her dad's wallet floating off of Put in Bay. Thanks for covering this!

I remember this night in Toledo. Was pretty scary as an 8 year old kid without knowledge of severe weather yet. Thank you for covering this!

weatherboxxxxx please bring back the extremely loud synths at the start of your vidsss 😭

That's my hometown, thank you man. Ill never forget that night.

Just subscribed thanks to your dad, who I work with. He found out I'm a meteorology/storm chasing nerd and told me about your channel! I'm looking forward to going back through all your videos. I love watching the chasers but I am trying to learn about the terms and what they are seeing that I don't see. Thanks!

Clever use of a squeegee! Your graphics continue to be impressive, including the satellite vid use of the track of the tornadoes.

As someone who regularly watches weather-related content, it’s always surreal to see a video covering an event that hit so close to home. My family lives in Moline, where the tornado first touched down, and I graduated from Lake High School in 2019 and Owens Community College, where the high school students were temporarily relocated while the new high school was being constructed, in 2022. I still remember the unease that lingered in our community for years afterward. Now, it feels like most of us have returned to normal, and the memory has since started to fade. Watching this helps put it all back into perspective, it’s a powerful reminder that something so catastrophic really did happen right where i live. The scars may not be as visible anymore, but they’re still there.

I was a kid in elementary less than 5 miles away from this monster when it happened. No idea what was going on, but I remember driving past lake high school the days after and it was destroyed.

I haven’t seen any good videos covering this thank you.

I grew up in millbury closer to the train tracks, and as a kid I always remember the sound of all of those distant trains that would ultimately make their way directly passed my house behind the old fire station. Luckily this horrifying tornado would miss me by about 5 years and 3 blocks. Nevertheless, I remember vividly all of those newly constructed houses on the main road coming into millbury from Woodville road, most of those families hadn't even been in their new homes for probably any more than 5 or maybe 10 years.

Indeed, I love this channel for the sole greatness and perfect balance between science and story telling. Great work on telling the best version of my hometown's 2010 tornado, it's only 1 of 2 really accurate and superb short documentary videos on YouTube to date. So yeah, #1 so far for sure!

Wasn't familiar with this one but man is that some nasty damage with such tragic stories. Great work dude.

I appreciate that you cover the OH tornados.
I was born in Van Wert and that "wedge of 02" was something alright.

I lived nearby when it happened. Wow, watching the satellite view of the path and all the news footage remind me of so many specific places, how they looked in the immediate aftermath, and how long lasting some of the damage was as recovery happened over the years. One of the houses near the Kranz's had a tree with a piece of corrugated sheet metal wrapped around its upper branches for years. A friend of mine's house on Main St. was destroyed. He found one of his guitars something like 400yds away, in its case packed with insulation, still in tune.

I live 10 minutes away. I was just asking my friend if they remembered this tornado, and they didn't!  I couldn't believe it. I was glued to the weather that night and seeing the damage was just awful. Heavy, sad time. Thank you for covering this.
