What made the atmosphere of DD1 memorable for you?

There's a certain coziness that Cassardis has that I still find very charming to this day, especially at night.

It's heartwarming to see another human being talking so passionately about something that you, too, cherish with your soul.

Cassardis atmosphere is absolutely impeccable. To this day, I can still hear the piano music and recognize it from the first notes. There's also something so wonderful about its NPCs being really reactive to your main quest progression. There's nothing pointing you back to town and talk to the people, but when you do, you're rewarded with a nice layer of immersion.

I've never played a game that makes every time you set out feel like such an adventure. Even when you retrace the exact same path. It's music is just so perfect in setting the tone, you can tell the sound design was a huge part of the development.

As much as I enjoy DD2 the original game has such an amazing atmosphere that it's hard to beat. As you said in the video, there is a melancholic undertone to everything. I always imagined that it's because the seneschal is exhausted and tired of his duty. He longs for his own death, and since he is responsible for upholding the world, his sadness seeps into it. The little song you pointed out literally says: "Land and skies and seas yearn, finish the cycle of eternal return." As if the world itself is telling you to keep going and finish the story.

"There's always this uh sound of wind... ... That is pushing you... ... Like a dangan." That got me! That was so casual and "dry"!

I'm happy to know someone also likes that cavern inside the well in Cassardis, always liked that little corner with water and grapes, never expected to ever hear anyone think the same, it's so specific. It surprised me.
Cassardis is my favourite place of any Dogma, it's so peaceful, the bgm is so beautiful too...

I love Cassardis feels like home

Took 3 tries to get into this game.  Then it hooked.   Awesome game.  BBI was hella fun.

shoutout to the Ruins of Aernst Castle, love that area alot for some reason scaling the rubble all the way to the top to find Salomet's Grimoire was always one of my favorite parts of every run

I really appreciate your videos so much, they're really relaxing and fun to watch. I'm actually playing through DDDA on my old 360 again and recently reached lvl 200 on a new character. It's so atmospheric and oddly enough, relaxing to play to me. I love going back to it. It gives me the same relaxing feel I have when I play old favs like PS1 Chrono Cross and Zelda OoT/Majora's Mask on the N64. But, as far as some of my favorite atmospheric details go, I'd say the soundtrack and weather patterns. There are like 3 different variations, sunny, overcast and foggy. Sadly enough there's no rain, but overcast definitely makes it feel as if it will rain soon. I remember playing early on and coming up the mountain pass where you overlook Gran Soren in the very early morning. It was a foggy morning, so it was extra dark and I could see the sun piercing the dark fog as I overlooked Gran Soren from the mountain top. It was one of the most beautiful gaming scenes I've ever layed my eyes on. It reminded me a bit of Zelda Twilight Princess. But, once again, thank you for your great, fun and relaxing videos!

i got that Dangan reference

DD1 had a highly immersive feel to it; alongside the combat, it made it extremely replayable.

DD1 felt like a japanese imagining what western medieval atmosphere feels like.
The choice of theme and sample is almost anime-like. I can’t explain it. It’s weirdly mismatched and beautiful

DD2 feels like a true western feels. The orchestration is just fantasy.. i missed the weirdness of it.

The vocal part in Cassardis’s theme is so nostalgic and haunting. And i miss that SO much in DD2

curious enough, with japanese voices you see translations did not only altered some npcs lines, they made new ones

They're masterworks, all. You can't go wrong...

Seeing the other locations from the distance at any point of the open world was beautiful. My favorite location is the dense woods in front of the church.

One of the big misses that 2 had was the lack of "home", I think we're supposed to be from melve? But even then everyone acts like strangers. I miss randoms calling us "cus".

a DD1 in-depth video that is not retrospective and retell of the story?
in 2026 before Dark Arisen 2?
Yes please

I know that The Unmoored World is an alternative dimension/reality type of deal regarding the continuity of the first game (where the Arisen/Seneschal circle was effectively broken), but I still wish they had put some ruins in the northern part of the uncovered sea near the Volcanic Island, where an alternative Cassardis could have been (just like alternative Gran Soren in/near the Seafloor Shrine).
