This Sabre riding mower came in for a checkup and fixup. Made by John Deere is says, it seems to be mechanically similar to the STX series of JD riding mowers, but with an LA series appearance. It was a less expensive option for some buyers.

No oil filter on these models?

You saved me from myself with the tap to brass elbow special tool for the removal. I have to admit I was stubborn for half a second. I then tapped it like you said , and life was good. Thank you for giving a Veteran a badly needed win this Memorial Day weekend 🫡🇺🇸.

I have the same machine , 25 yrs old , fire it up and I think the sprocket on the transmission is stripped.. seems common issue , but it lasted quite awhile , so will fix it up..still in good condition..even the seat ..

Good to see you again. Did the oil change stop the knocking?

As always, a very good video is worth waiting to see.

Did you just tap the new tee in with a mallet?
Neat trick with that improvised puller! I’d swap out that slotted screw for a Torx and use a thicker nut, but that’s just me.
I think I need another tool chest drawer strictly for all those little gadgets. 😉🔧

Yet again, I’ve got “tool envy”. That ratcheting tap handle! It’s been on my tool list for a few weeks already. Maybe I’ll move it higher up on the list, next to the other hundreds of tools I want.
Never enough time or money. D’oh!

Next time I’ll try not to stand in the way of your tools and parts. OMG - that was so funny! 😂👍

I missed you Random, good to have you back. I could definitely hear the knocking, whatever it is it doesn't sound too good. Maybe like you said, internal engine wear and with the black oil and low level it probably hasn't been changed regularly. Busy is a good thing even if it means i have to wait for another video, take care.
